Hey guys,

just another of that "how could I improve my Rig" threads. System Specs see below. I am currently running on a ruther rubbish casing (no cable management and so on).

What I would like to have is a good solid case for my future upgrades. I will wait for the next Nvidia Generation or even for the one after that for a video Card upgrade. CPUwise I will wait at least 1-2 years. RAM maybe not so long till upgrade to a better frequency if that gets me anything. I will definitely want to have a new power supply unit in my new case because the one I am using is well overpowered with 750W. I tend to 500-600W.

Ok now here is the question: Anyone got good experiences with a case... could recommend me any?

I am looking on the Corsair Obedience series (650D). I like the cable management but what I don't like about it is the front panel. I want a tower which is ATX compatible but also has some front USBs... you know.

Hope this is enough input to get to some results. Questions -> ask. I will reply as soon as I can.

Thanks in Advance

Manuel

Hi, why would you downgrade your 750W? If it's a good one, I would keep it for a future upgrade because it doesn't consume more power. About the case, I'm not really documented about that since I'm using a modded one :p But from what I know Corsair build great PC cases.

Well If it was a great one I would keep it. But it is not. It came from the pc manufacture itself and is quite uncomfortable.

I have an antec 902 v3. Plenty of front USB it has 3 near the top and also came with a USB 3 bay for an extra 2. Since you're planning on getting a new psu anyways I would definately recommend a modular since you can remove the cables you don't need. There are a few issues I have with my case. Its loud due to so many fans but keeps everything cool. The psu is bottom mount but there is no vent in the bottom so the psu fan has to be facing up. So that could be an issue if you don't lay it down when removing screws. The intake fans are filtered...but...in order to get the front fliters out the hd cage has to be unscrewed(16 screws if I remember correctly). The side window has an extra fan bracket but if you use a tower cooler a fan won't fit with out modification. Long story short its a great case but there is probably easier/better for the price.

Already made my choice. Going with the Corsair Obsidience 800D as it really impressed me. PSU: Should I go with Corsair once again? I have an 850W PSU in my current case and with my system spec thats well above it. I think I will go towards the 650W Series. Maybe TX or HX from Corsair. For 100€ it's not such a bad deal as it features 85+ gold. But I am open minded for any further suggestions.

Nex thing I am overthinking is RAM: I have Corsair 1600Mhz XMS3 (if I can remember correctly). I saw some really fast RAM out there with 2400 MHz... Is this worth the extra €€€?

Well I dont know your system specs but I wonder what you need 1000W for. 3 Video Cards and a 5Ghz i7 ;) Just kidding!

Here is a comparison of memory speed although its for SB.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/memory/2011/01/11/the-best-memory-for-sandy-bridge/1

"As far as gaming goes, though, there's very little point in buying anything faster than 1,600MHz memory. Crysis couldn't care less about what memory you use, while Civ 5 ran equally as fast on the 1,600MHz kit at CL9 as the 2,133MHz at CL8. Only with the memory set to 1,333MHz did we see a slowdown, and even then by 1-3fps (around 5 per cent) at most."
