Krupi Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hello first post here and I have a few questions! I have both A-10 and Ka-50 but I have rarely played them, mainly due to spending most of my flying time in Clod and Rof (give me a prop over a jet everytime ;) ). I have not yet purchased the P-51 but I will be getting it tonight :pilotfly: after hearing about the Butcherbird getting the DCS treatment  I really hope that they expand on the ww2 theatre, after the unforunate demise of Clod  (I know i am one of the few that actually like Clod but it did have a lot of great features) and the feeling that the new il2:BoS will not continue the new level of CEM that Clod offered :joystick: I am looking for a replacement and hearing that DCS are making a Fw190 I can see a great ww2 sim on the horizon, but I just want to check, am I off the chart with this expectation or is a ww2 DCS sim feasible? New map engine, do we have an eta on the new engine/maps? Which Fw190 variant is expected? Dora makes sense for the p-51 but even though it can carry bombs it is not the best ground pounder which obviously were the Anton/Frederick variants. I have heard some bad things about the multiplayer net code but it sounds like they are improving it, does it have coop? Is a online campaign like in the original il2 feasible? Do we know the size of the Nevada map and are we expecting trees with a collision model? Anyway thats all my questions atm, hopefully I haven't broken any rules with my first post :D Hope to see you in the air tonight, I will be the one making the smoking craters at the end of the runway :music_whistling: Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
Jona33 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 No body knows about WW2 theatre but I would expect some WW2 units at some point, Nevada is probably a long way off (they're building a new terrain engine with it). MP code is improving, you can fly Co-op or PVP, no MP campaign yet, just single missions. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Krupi Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Whoops I just realised I put this in the wrong section, pleas could it be moved to DCS World or a more appropriate are? Nice, the only thing that I don't like is the dated landscape in DCS the new engine looks like a big step forward :D Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
swe_badger Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 One thing that you will have to set your mind to is waiting, and I'm talking REAL waiting. Don't expect any WWII theatres any time soon. With regards to the Fw-190, who knows how far along development it is but I wouldn't bet on it being released any time soon either. On the other hand, sometimes ED announces stuff right before it's released almost so it's kind of a lottery, the thing you want the most be it theatre or plane might be yours if you have the winning ticket. The Mustang is a great module if you like WW2 birds, just wait until you try to land the thing, if you even get it off the ground in the first place that is. So, welcome to DCS and may the gods of patience be with you. BTW, be prepared to spend some time on each module that you may acquire before you will reap the fruit of steep learning curves but ones you do, boy will anything else -sim wise- look like a toy in comparison. The Mustang is -IMO- VERY easy to learn all the systems in -for obvious reasons- compared to let's say the A-10C or the Ka-50. Krupi Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Don't worry about that I have plenty, I will patiently bide my time by working on this little project :) After CODs demise I had lost interest/was waiting to see the level of CEM 777 used in BoS so a HUGE thanks to eagle dynamics for giving me another reason to continue this project  Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
swe_badger Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 That will go great together with the Butcherbird ;) or any other module for that matter. Nice stuff! AMD FX-6300 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LP DDR3 RAM SAPPHIRE HD 7790 DUAL-X O/C 1GB DDR5 2TB SEAGATE HDD WIN7 ULTIMATE X64

Well apart from some low fps at times (:helpsmilie:) I got off the ground on my first attempt after doing the taxi then flew around put on my big boy underpants and tried to land and promptly crashed  I went and put the nappies back on and tried the landing mission which went a bit smoother :smartass: Very VERY impressed  top job Eagle Dynamics! Now where is my Fw-190 I WANT IT NOW AND I WANT A MEDITERRANEAN MAP WITH ALL THE WW2 GROUND UNITS AND SPITS AND P-40s AND A BLENHEIM AND BF110 AN..... :chair: :Flush: Seriously I am very impressed, just need to optimise the setting for my PC and I will be jumping online :worthy: Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
