R1PE Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hi guys, Im just in the process of setting up my other machine with dcs world and all the modules, Can i run both my machines using the same account and serial numbers for all the modules? I noticed that you have to log into the main server before you can host over LAN....Would this cause issues having 2 machines logged in on same account details?
PoleCat Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) AFAIK If the second PC has paid AC modules to be used by a client those modules would need to be separately purchased and activated for each machine. OTOH, if the second machine acts as a server only or the only client flyable used on it is the included free SU-25T you could do this, many do. R1PE Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks for the replies, Having some sort of issue here, We have 2 pc's on lan, both have seperate accounts with paid versions of dcs and modules etc, We can both play on servers together here but when it comes to hosting a Lan session, the host pc has no problem hosting and loading up but when the other pc tries to join then that pc crashes, This happens with either of us hosting, Any ideas?
ED Team c0ff Posted February 1, 2013 ED Team Posted February 1, 2013 but when the other pc tries to join then that pc crashes, This happens with either of us hosting, Any ideas? Usual bug report procedure applies: at least provide *.log + *.crash files from Saved Games\DCS\Logs\ folder. Mission file (or its name if it's a standard miz) may help as well. Dmitry S. ENO Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Just going to step in here- we've had this issue in the latest build if there are ANY tankers. Other possible culprits include predators and AWACS. Also, make sure any mission you're playing has been opened in the mission editor on the server (assuming you downloaded an MP mission somewhere) and then just RESAVED... It can be the same name and everything... but the missions like to be resaved on the server machine with the server's own peripherals / settings etc... Doing this has helped reduce the number of connection errors and network separations. We've run into a few problems with guys trying to join the server on shared router setups... sometimes ONE of the two multi setups could join but then the other couldn't. We don't have that issue at all if there are no tankers... but like I said we've had a hairy eyeball on the other assets as well. I run the server, and it is on a remote machine off the same router as I use... so I do have direct experience with the issue and the solution. Try it out. R1PE Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Ive found a way for this to work, If we both load up almost at the same time together its fine, But if i allow the host to load up over LAN first then i join 30 seconds-1 minute after...it crashes, An odd fault really but this method does work 100% of the time. What ive said probably doesnt make any sense lol but it does work, if its any help to anyone? :)
ENO Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I've addressed the issues that I'm aware of. Can you confirm that you've ruled out or looked into what I have already posted. This sounds very similar to the issue with the JTAC loading in the latest build (AI JTAC, that is). JTAC only loads for those who are in the game when the host computer comes on- so basically the host (remote or otherwise) and I guess whoever is dogpiled on top of him when he (it) gets loaded up. I'm not saying this is a JTAC issue... the JTAC issue doesn't cause a crash- it just causes it to not be visible nor communicate to client computers. You haven't really told us anything- knowing the mission at a BARE minimum would help- not to mention the things C0ff (the guy who can probably best help you) asked for. R1PE Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 as I said before my issue is now sorted (or a work around has been found) :) we both just have to load up at the same time regardless of who hosts over lan etc, the crash to desktop we both were experiencing happened on every single mission, so I. unsure if its dkwn to jtac or tankers, if it crashes again I shall post up the log file for you but it seems to be pretty stable now with the work around method we have been using, either way thanks for the inputs :)
