Hi All

I have a Warthog Hotas that I am using daily and a Cougar U2Nxt that is gathering dust.

The Cougar has a microswitch problem (the one on the throttle that you use to slew radar)

I the replacement part and want to test the repair on DCS A-10.

Problem is I don't want to disconnect my Warthog and plug the Cougar if it will mess up my current control settings.

I see there is a load/save profile option but call me dumb, I could not figure out how to save a profile.

ANy help?

You can backup whole directory with input settings.

It's located in your user directory (usually c:\users\[your_windows_username])

There will you find folder: Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input.

Make a copy and when you'll want to restore your input settings - just restore this folder to original location.

It might be possible that you need to copy the internals .lau file of the latest Warthog setup into the new one to make it work after you switch back.

If i'm correct, every time you change your setup, a new file is being created making the one before that obsolete.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Where do I find that Lange?

I remember when I converted to an SDD and did a fresh instal, I tried to copy some files back to reset my control settings to what they were on before, never managed to get it to work, so maybe left out something.

In your C:\User\Saved Games folder you find DCS\Config\Input\..flyable..\Input

If you open that dir you find the names of your controlers, something like: Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog {CDF615E0-6808-11e2-8001-444553540000}.lua

Just open these in Notepad (or Notepad++) and copy the entire stuff over to the new created file when you hook up your Warthog again. You'll notice that you can have different files in there with the same controller name but with another number between the {}. Each of these files has also a creation day (visible when you mouse over it). Always use the latest.

For some reason copying your Saved Games\DCS files over after a new install makes your new install the same as your old one, like graphic and sound options but it will not work with the controllers. They always default back to the original state. One reason might be that they are not always recognised in the same order because sometimes my CH Pedals are listed as the first controller and the Cougar as second, sometimes it's reversed.

It's quite strange as I have three .lua for my Thrustmaster Hotas X but only one for my Xbox360 controller, which I plug/unplug quite often whilst the Hotas X stays plugged in most of the time, unless I'm re-cabling.

The three Hotas X files are dated the 8/01, 10/01 and 20/02. Perhaps it creates a new lua when the same controller is connected to a different port and maybe I did that two or three times recently (I don't recall but it's possible) as there's six or seven ports on the back of the hub, which is where I connect it.

The Xbox360 controller always gets plugged into the front hub ports, of which there's only two so perhaps I've been lucky and always plugged it into the same one by chance.
