Soulres Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I noticed that for just level flight i keep the rpm at bout 40% and the throttle at 25% (keeping both in the green)keeps the temp in the green, but any slight increase in one or the other starts over heating the engine dramatic, is that just like how it is supposed to be or what?plane flys like a mustang for the sky even at 50% throttle. just would like a little info for keepin the engines coold down
sobek Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Make sure that cooling door controls are in auto. Also you need airspeed for the radiators to be effective. If you are climbing with full power, you need to maintain (depending on OAT) at least 170-200MPH so the radiators can dissipate the generated heat. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

At this point, a track would be helpful as i'm unsure what might be going on. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

leafer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Is outside temp a factor in this sim? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

wess24m Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I know it's not correct procedure, but when running in on targets or dogfighting I fully open both coolers, has always worked for me with no heat related engine failure.
