Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I thought I was doing something wrong, maybe something to do with my previous missions that I created, but I am having the same problem in the stock missions provided with this updated. I start a mission, and it loads, and immediately, I get a debrief screen and the mission is over. The mission runs about 1.5 seconds, if that. No CTD, nothing that is clearly broken. But I never see the inside of the aircraft or vehicle. Gotta be something obvious -- and probably embarrassing as hell. What am I screwing up here? Ripcord [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 We can't see where things are scewed up. There's no factual information provided like missionfiles/tracks/logs etc. Perhaps something simple like a shortcut to end the mission has gone haywire.
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) The debrief has 3 events. Mission start Player takes control Mission End That is it. EDIT: It does not permit me to save the last mission track. It displays a message that says it is unable to open the file lastmissiontrack.trk Edited February 28, 2013 by Ripcord [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Now I am wondering if I should perhaps re-install? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Grimes Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Have a DCS.log? Also try running a repair from startmenu>Eagle Dynamics>DCS World> Repair. In a way it is a CTD because the simulator immediately crashes and goes back to the mission editor (the games GUI). The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Good idea on the repair try, but too late. Uninstalled it and I'm downloading all the installation files for a fresh install. Hoping those activation keys are still in there. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) DCS is still activated in the registery. It won't cost an activation. A long time ago i tried double deactivation to revive activations. This worked a long time ago. You can force the activationscreen by holding leftshift and press multiplayer in the singleplayer. The deactivationlink in the middle is always present, even when the client is deactivated. Perhaps this is different now or it's even a valid function of the application. Edited February 28, 2013 by BRooDJeRo
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 OK, this sucks. Did the full reinstall, all the modules, everything in order, and it all installs and works as it should -- just like before. Except I still get the exact same behavior. Let me check now to see if I can at least get a track or a log or something. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Still cannot produce a mission track. Where do I go look for a log of some kind? Ran the repair command, from the start menu. Validated files, applied some kind of update and still no change. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 It looks like something happened back on Jan 9 and the problem is just left over. Not sure that might have been the last time I got into DCS before today. Don't see anything else in the logs folder other than the autoupdate and uninstall logs. There is also an inputscript log, not sure what that is about. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Evil.Bonsai Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Could a controller be sending 'mission end' shortcut in some way? Maybe unplug all controllers but keyboard/mouse. I don't know of a specific 'mission end' shortcut as I always use the 'esc' key then click end, but there might be a specific key combo/shortcut that might be doing so.
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Looks like it doesn't like that you don't have an intro? Possible? Certainly possible. Not sure how to fix that or even how to check. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Could a controller be sending 'mission end' shortcut in some way? Maybe unplug all controllers but keyboard/mouse. I don't know of a specific 'mission end' shortcut as I always use the 'esc' key then click end, but there might be a specific key combo/shortcut that might be doing so. Nope not the problem, unplugged both controllers and rudder pedals (all of which worked before in previous versions). Still same problem. It is interesting to note that the debrief is the same, right down to the minute and second of the events. Although it reads the mission title, all the units, and all the relevant mission info of the missions that apparently loaded. And the debrief file date does not change. Could somebody send me a blank debrief file? I might try replacing it. I tried deleting it and the game crashes to desktop. This is really not good. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 How to request official support from ED? Did this not get posted in the right place? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 For true support you go to the bugs and problems section yes. Inhere it's just the very very very pretty people.
Ripcord Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 OK, thanks to the moderators for moving this thread. I'll just grab a ticket and go stand over here. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I saw your reference to the temperal missionfile being logged with a space between tempMission and .miz, in my logs the reference is without a space. Your file: \AppData\Local\Temp\DCS\tempMission .miz My file: \AppData\Local\Temp\DCS\tempMission.miz Did the space occur when you copy n paste it to the forum or is it originaly in the me.log file?
Ripcord Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Now that is how it was in there, exactly how I pasted it. I noticed that also. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Although it seems to be created too like that. It can still be a notepad-burp or did you open the logfiles with notepad++? What is the particular missionname of the original campaign what belongs to these logs you presented? I can start and stop the mission, see what is different in the log. I'm not so sure if these spaces have something to do with it. Don't think so. Also with the DCS reinstallation, did you overwrite/repair the 2010 C++ installation present already or did you manualy delete it and manualy install it? Did you run the DirectX package install too? Have you concidered a hardwaredriver freshup to be sure and rule that out? Turn off antivirus and firewall fully for a moment with services stopped etc. Rule out as much as you can and use minimal DCS settings. Edited March 1, 2013 by BRooDJeRo
