BulldogA10 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Can someone please guide me to some useful help on how to effectively use the F-15C to engage targets. I keep getting shot down by Mig 29s and somehow they get a lock on me way before my radar can pick them up. I have read the manual and have a strong understanding of how to use the systems in the F-15 to include the radar. Almost every time I get into a missile fight with them I get shot down. This is in single player and not Online play. Need so good advice. I feel I know the F-15C system well and cant seem to stay in the air. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. :surrender: Edited March 10, 2013 by BulldogA10 Stay Sharp.
Oesau Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Have a look at this site for some good information (it wont answer it all but it's a start) http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/news.html
BulldogA10 Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Thank you, but been all over that site and watched all of the videos on the F-15. Thanks again. Stay Sharp.

BulldogA10 Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Ok here is a track. My questions are: - What am I doing wrong? Any input will be great. - How come he can pick me up way before I can him? - I have ECM on but it can lock me up still. - I cannot lock him up because he is jamming. - He get a lock way before I can even launch my longest range weapon.Cargo Intercept .trk Stay Sharp.
Wolf One Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Haven't seen your track, but with the F-15C in its current form, try spamming, i.e. really two missiles, otherwise you're going to have to learn some really advanced tactics, which probably means joining a squad to become truly proficient. Other than that, try BFM'ing with a Mirage on excellent setting without external views and not getting low on fuel
104th_Maverick Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Have not had time to watch the track but if you cannot see the bandit and he is locking you then more than likely you have your radar PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency) setup incorrectly. In the F-15C follow these general rules: Bandit is outside 22nm and is Hot = HIGH PRF Bandit is outside 22nm and is Cold = MEDIUM PRF or INTERLEAVE Bandit is inside 22nm any aspect = MEDIUM PRF It is also very important that you have your radar range set up properly. No one in their right mind is going to fire on you from outside of 40nm... so if someone is launching on you make sure you are 40nm scan and your in HIGH PRF (if you think he is outside 22nm) and point your radar towards the TEWS contact. Getting more experience or SA (Situational Awareness) in the aircraft will lead you to be able to roughly judge using the TEWS what the bandits range is to your aircraft. Once you can do this effectively it makes setting up your radar range and PRF frequency much easier, as you will already have a rough idea of where you should be looking. Golden Rule! Always remember if he can see you .... you can see him! So if your being painted by someone that you cannot find it is because you are doing something wrong or you are looking in the wrong place. If you are totally unsure where the bandit is use this general rule: Start scanning between 15,000ft and 30,000ft for 3-5 secs then Start Scanning above 30,000ft for 3-5 secs, then Start Scanning below 15,000ft for 3-5 secs (all alts approx) If you still don't see him you need to then know when it is time for you to get out of there, this again will come with better SA. The worst thing you can do is keep flying straight towards him with no idea where he is (that's what he wants) so set yourself a limit and do cross it..... eg Don't press on any bandit inside of 15nm unless you can see them Good luck! 104th_Cobra Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thank you, but been all over that site and watched all of the videos on the F-15. Thanks again. Don't watch only the F-15 related videos. See them all, at http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/a2a.htm. We're talking about BVR and missile evasion. Even at WVR we can evade SRAAMs. Record ACMI files with TacView and replay them to visualize and understand the combat dynamics. 104th_Cobra Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 We can be writing for hours (even days) about ACM. For now I can say to you that the main objectives of using ECM on BVR are the denial of an early missile launch and, as important or even more important, to hide your movements when preparing for the merge. 104th Cobra [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
