Maachine Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 alright so i'm finally getting good at this game. i've beaten all but a few of the single missions. now its time for the campaign. first mission......big battle mission......lots and lots going on and lots and lots of talking on the radios, its hard to contact the JTAC. almost impossible. how should i go about these "big battle" missions? just "free for all" it? its chaos otherwise with all the radio chatter. shut off the AM radio? am i doing something obviously wrong?
KLR Rico Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yeah, there's a lot going on, and you have to wait for a break in the chatter for JTAC to work. Basically, you fly to the fence in way point, and do some recon. Usually, if I think I can handle what I find, I do it. If it's too much, or I don't feel like it, I use the F10 radio menu to call in SEAD, CAP, etc, according to the threats that need to be dealt with. Once the area is safe, go in and do whatever the briefing told you to do. You should get a short message at the top of the screen when the mission is accomplished, or you can check the scoring screen with the apostrophe key. I think the score you're looking for is called "mission success" or something like that, if the score is 50 the goal is partially completed, and if it's 100 you completed the mission and you can RTB. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
Quirkitized Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Try unchecking Allied radio comms in the options. (unless of course you want to hear them, then ignore this)
Nate--IRL-- Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yeah, there's a lot going on, and you have to wait for a break in the chatter for JTAC to work. . That may have been the case in early versions of A-10, but not now. The player can always communicate IIRC. Quirkitized Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Last mission I played that had a JTAC in it with tons of AI chatter, it took minutes to communicate with JTAC, instead of a few seconds.
Maachine Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 ya i'd read back the 9-line and after about a minute of chatter, it'd actually go through, then it'd be another minute or so before i get a response back. and sorry about the thread title, i see you changed it. my bad!
Maachine Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 so either turn off the chatter, stand by and wait, or disregard the SEAD or CAP guys and try to accomplish the mission without their assistance.......
KLR Rico Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Hi Nate, in 1.2.3 JTAC still waits for a break in traffic, at least it does for me. You can transmit over the chatter, but JTAC won't respond until they stop for a second or two. I haven't tried it with allied flights off though, as I find the info useful. I also notice ATC responses are delayed in a similar way. If an another base's ATC is busy talking to someone else, the ATC at your base won't respond until the other base is finished talking. I noticed the delays when flying A-10C on MP, but realized what was going on when flying a FC3 jet, since it's simplified radios made it clear what was happening. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
