NhiTrac Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Hi folks, Have had my WH for about two weeks now and the right throttle has suddenly developed a bit of free play, along both Y and X axis. The throttle unit also has some loose switches namely my flap switch and a few others. The stick had from day one, about 2 to 3mm of twist free play to the left from centre. While I have contacted the store for an exchange, I've googled a few others with the same problem though no noted fix. Just wanted to gauge the issue and what you guys have done about it, or simply did you just live with it? Lausbub78 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 The small twist in the Stick is normal,it's just the way it's designed. If you see pictures of the inside of the stick you will see that it's basicly a larger half cup jointed over a smaller half cup. You can see it here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62564 As for the buttons, yes some of the knobs on the throttle can be a bit rotated to left and right. On my throttle its the Flaps and all of the 3 below the 4 way switch on the right Throttle.
Miles Vorkosigan Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I have had a lot of problems with the right throttle. The rubber friction pad seemed to become liquid and ooze out the bottom. I made my own from some teflon type plastic (no idea what it was, it is backing for an edge sander). Still not great, a bit sloppy but better than it was without anything at all.
NhiTrac Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 Thanks guys. I've just picked up a replacement throttle today which is firmer than what mine was. I did play around with the tension when I first got it though didn't notice much of a difference at either extremes. ... Ill just turn the tension down to its lowest when I get home I get home with my new unit I guess. Such a shame as the rest of the HOTAS is quite amazing. _Dredd Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) I find the lowest tension on the throttle is perfectly fine. Making quick throttle adjustments and walking the throttles is quite comfortable at lowest tension. also same here with flaps button slightly looser now and stick having some 2-3 mm play; but I hardly notice it. NhiTrac Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 Update: kept my stick but swapped out the throttle unit. Every single button is clicks with a positive click including the flap. The right throttle had a tiny bit of play but I cranked the tension all the way down before even moving it. Fingers cross she'll be right for the next couple of yrs :-) Intel i5 4670 | GTX 970 | 8 gb Ram | Windows 10 Thrustmaster Warthog | Saitek Rudders | Logitech G27 | Astro A40
