Spudman Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, question; How do I make it so that aircraft will just fly around the way points dumb like and not react to my fire? I've been messing around with the way point options, but as soon as I start firing(esp. missiles) they start bobbin' and weavin'. When one of the aircraft gets hit, forget about it, they head back to base. What I'm looking for is a target drone, more or less.
ENO Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I think if you go into the advanced waypoint actions and add a "reaction to threat" entry and set it to "none" that may do it. Should almost be that easy, actually. Not sure if you can prevent them from returning to base, mind you- maybe make them all average skill level on top of it. arteedecco Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 ^^ What ENO said, plus you may want to add another Advanced Task in the Mission Editor (ME) for that aircraft that changes its use of countermeasures, so it does not dump flares/chaff or use ECM (though previously ECM could not be disabled in the AI - wasn't working... thought 1.2.3 fixed that, but could be wrong). ENO Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 To add to it a bit, maybe if you just want it to drone between 2 waypoints (as opposed to setting up a bunch of waypoints that will make it fly back and forth for awhile) you can set waypoint one, and then go into advanced waypoint actions again, and add a "switch waypoint to waypoint 0" (0 being your start point). That way it will revert back to the starting point and then once at 0 turn around and go back to 1... basically until it runs out of fuel. Darkwolf Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 That recall me one joke the game did to me when i had when i built a Laser Warning Receiver for my homepit. Couldn't test it. Tanks/BMPs refused to shot at me. I could even land at 5 meter in front of an ennemi BMP1 without any reaction. Well. As soon as I hit the ground, i took as 75mm round in the face. Strangely for an hour i though my connections and scripts were wrong... Until they decided to fire again after a computer reset. . . . . . If you want a target drone, try to place your target at the same coalition. And preferably something that don't have RWR. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] PC simulator news site. Spudman Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Eno, Your first suggestion worked great; if they're severely damaged they still return to base, but other than that it worked. I'll try switching the waypoint as well.
Spudman Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 arteedecco, I'll see if I can figure that out. I'm just now learning about AI controls and how to work them. It's still very confusing to me.

Understood. Take a look at the Mission Editor portion of the DCS World Manual, or the DCS A-10C GUI Manual (here: ftp://ftp1.files.eagle.ru/dcs/manuals/DCS-A-10C_GUI_Manual_EN.pdf). It takes a little learning every time I make a new mission. Just keep after it! I was reading through the waypoint section and I couldn't figure out how to set the waypoint back to zero. I tried it in game too and I couldn't figure it out.

ENO Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 basically click open the advanced waypoint editor at the bottom of the unit directives page (under the settings for uncontrolled / late activation etc. Then once you're in there click "add." Once you've clicked add go to the expanded menu and click "perform command" Then click on "switch waypoint." It'll have a menu for you to switch to which waypoint but of course your only option will be 0. That should do it! Actually- what buddy said about just using your own coalition... that's pretty good too but I always feel weird pulling the trigger like that no matter how ridiculous it sounds.
