ENO Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I'm seeing a LOT of graphical FPS increase threads but most of the screen tearing ones I'm seeing as they relate to World are from 2011 where a variety of different things were broken. I thought I had it licked recently by adjusting a lot of the settings in the NVidia control panel- and in global settings to those recommended for FPS increases but while side to side seems to work okay, up and down consistently tears right in the middle... especially in the cockpit. Generally I have had vsync on in the game, the limiter in the graphics.cfg down to 60fps... shadows in the cockpit turned off... MFCDs 512 (not every frame)... I guess what I'm looking for is the "current" settings to help avoid the tearing issues. The card has no problem drumming up 30-60fps (except in issues unrelated to tearing like smoke etc). I'm seeing some discussion on vsync- and I can go abide by those directions but is there something with TIR5 that I can adjust (currently using the DCS 1 to 1 profile) or something else that will help bring things back to the way they were? I can't tell if it was something in an update on the DCS side that started this or an NVidia driver, or a TIR5 update... Anyone else experiencing this? How did YOU handle it? TZeer Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Make a note of all your nvidia settings. Then reset everything back to default. Apply vsync in DCS, not in the nvidia panel. And why do you have MAX FPS @ 60? If your vsync is working there should be no need to set that parameter. I have run DCS on 3 different setups now. Single 580, SLI 580, AMD 7970 and GTX Titan. With two different CPU's and two different mobo's. All I do is leave nvidia at default, do my settings in game, and that's it. Never had nay issues with TIR5, or anything like that. But as soon as my setup is out of vsync, I will see tearing. Which I will say is normal. Since that's what vsync is for. Prevent tearing. Just came to think of it, do you get tearing if TIR5 is deactivated? Edited April 20, 2013 by TZeer
ENO Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 The only issue is that my pan view doesn't move as fast as the TIR5. I've wondered if the TIR5 refreshing at 120fps may be causing the issue... but then I'm not sure if that's what it refreshes at? I'd read it somewhere but not 100% sure. I'll try what you're suggesting and see what happens. Thanks TZ. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
JG14_Smil Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I've learned that adaptive vsync causes tearing. As Tzeer says, I have best luck with default global settings. TIR does not cause tearing. It just shows it off more.
