Hi folks,

Getting to grips with this now but struggling on the fps front.

System is 120 gb SSd , win 7 64 , AMD HD7850 , Xeon x5680 (6 core , 12, threads , 3.33 ) 8gb ddr3

Would anyone have any suggestions on maximising fps performance ?

I am slowly working through all the threads and suggestions but nothing seems to help as yet- seem to vary from 10 to 70+ fps during take off and flight

One thing I'm interested in is the Catalyst Control Centre settings and wether I need to add a profile for the shortcut to DCSworldupdater , the same as the desktop shortcut I use to normally start the game

Also would a 2 gb graphics card offer better fps than the 1 gb

Thanks in advance

Obviously, your problem is the GPU. I have a HD7870 and im able to run DCS on medium settings (@FullHD). Even if you have such a CPU, your GPU is bottlenecking and you cant run DCS on maximum settings.

I dont have changed anything on CCC. About the VRAM thingy, i dont really know. I have 2gb because all 7870's have 2gb. However, if you already have the 1gb card, you should eighter lower the settings that your fps is okay with your system, or get some new card. In this case you should try to get a faster graphics card, not the same with more memory. Also, many people on this forum say that DCS runs better on Nvidia cards. I dont really know what to say about that. What i know is that my second pc with a GTX 670 ist able to run DCS on maximum settings (trees visibility isnt maxed) at 45fps (@FullHD).

More than 1gb VRAM will give you nicer looking textures and maybe better framerates. If you checkout VRAM usage (with a program like GPU-Z -> sensors tab), it will probably max out your VRAM (usually usage is around 1.2-1.5gb). This undoubtly creates some overhead as some CPU/GPU processor is tied to loading/ unloading textures more often.

The HD7850 should give you rather nice framerates.

Note that the dustcloud from the helicopter can make some systems choke under some conditions. (in my case, when flying low 1-3m at speeds higher than 150km/h)

ahhh, another FPS brainstorming.

First, your xeon should have a turbo mode, isn't it ?

You can try to limit DCS on 2 physical core, avoiding cpu swaps and enabling stable turbo.

Manage your options with VRAM consuption and gpu-z like he said before.

With my 4890 1Gb, VRAM quickly maxxed out.

I will not say your GPU is the limiting factor. if in GPU-Z it's under 80% load, then it's a CPU problem.

My specs run everything maxed out "fly shukumi" @30-40FPS.

Elsewhere, i'm more about 60-120FPS.

GTX670 @1920x1200. My GPU isn't the limiting factor.

I should try it at 4.7ghz just for fun.

Edit :

Tryed it... @4.9Ghz :D

about 40-50FPS. "Old" cinebench 11.5 tool rates 1 core at 2.03. 4 cores at 7.8 and 8 cores (HT) at 9.5

My gpu wasn't maxed out. (90%+)
