FC3: How to start

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, I am back to flight sim after a while and I want to buy FC3.

Few questions:

- where can I buy FC3?

- does it work with Windows 8?

- what I need is Lock on: modern air combat only?

- other "must"?

Thank you in advance for your help.

HERE

- does it work with Windows 8?

Not sure but i guess it does, might give problems in combination

whit other hardware/software though.

- what I need is Lock on: modern air combat only?

Yup, after activation of FC3 it can be deleted if you wish.

- other "must"?

DCW World started as a free product, meaning;

You could download and install it for free, and fly the SU-25T in Single Player.

ED has now updated DCS World to allow the SU-25T been flown in Multi Player for free as well.

You will need to make an (free) account on www.digitalcombatsimulator.com

to sign in on the ED multiplayer master server.

Since its all free, i suggest you try running DCS World first and then see if you want to trow some money into it.

Regarding Windows 8, yes, works rather well. Certainly better results on my system than Windows 7.

Will try it.

Corrected that for you, no need to buy anything to see how the game runs.:D:joystick:

Any questions feel free to post, or hop on the 159th TS3 Server whenever you see someone there.

Just one last thing: is the beta version the only version available at the molment?

Assuming your referring to FC 3, YES its still in beta.

Believe it comes out of beta whit DCS World Patch 1.2.4 not sure though.

Confirmed, 1.2.4 will feature the final release of FC3, price will change to 50 bucks

I read that a DCS Module is necessary and that it can be downloaded for free.

Is it really necessary?

Absolutely necessary - in that DCS is now a modular system, rather than ( as previously) a set of standalone sims.

DCS.world has the files common to all the DCS sims - all the stuff needed to simulate the world the user modules operate in (+ that Su-25T as a playable) - and then the modules have the files for the specific aircraft (or collection of aircraft in FC3's case).

Together with the recently incorporated auto-updater, this ensures a common base across all modules for the MP envronment, and minimises the footprint on the players' hard-disks.

Cheers.
