as per title - what is best? I have partitioned off a Z: drive for the game but am not sure if i should install using the built in admin account of WIN7 or install using a user account.

Thoughts?

the drive should be the fastest you have - and this partition should not share the same drive as your system (if possible)

and install it as admin and give everything that has to run together with DCS admin privileges

Further note: when you say you have "partitioned off": which sector space does this Z drive live in? HDD's are slower on the "inside", so partitioning can actually make your game slower to load.

Also note that if you have it on the same physical drive as your OS, you also gain nothing through partitioning - the seeker head will still have to "dance", and indeed will have to "dance" even more, impacting your I/O throughput badly.

No need to install/run as admin. Using a regular user account is a normal way of operation.

The installers/updater will ask for admin privileges when they need it.
