Mr_Burns Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi, I bought a 3.5" from ebay, 9-35v. I then bought a 4.5" at 12v Neither of them came with a plug and transformer so I reused other adaptors with similar voltage ranges. I had them both working for a while but once incorporated into my panels, they dont work. I am no electrician so I fked around with various plugs and adaptors and possibly reversing polarity, the biggest was a Dell laptop transformer (19v) and the least was a 1a 5v modem Power supply. As probably expected with all this noncence, neither work. Being as though the max voltage I ever ran through them was less than 20, (I havnt got a clue about amperage), is it likely I have fried something and should throw them away? Is there anyway to test these little monitosr?
MTFDarkEagle Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi, It's quite possible you burnt through something. I don't know how one could test these monitors, best contact the manufacturer. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
JG14_Smil Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 You can never assume your polarity is marked correctly. I had a power supply that had wires marked wrong before. Get a Multi meter and learned how to test the polarity. Back when BS first came out I messed with a small monitor and ended up letting the smoke out of it. I vowed to find easier ways and now use a panel over a larger monitor.
Mr_Burns Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Thanks for your replies - they were only cheap so i'll prolly wizz them. Beggining to think a touch screen is the future, i enjoy building panels and practicing electronics with switches and solder and stuff but I just dont have the finess.
