GodsPrototype Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Today I have finally been able to play since updating to 1.2.4, but now I can't seem to find the smoke generators in DCS. I used to contact the ground crew and choose Air show, but now the weapon selection menu in the ATC is different. I can't find the smoke pylons, cause I don't really know what they're called. Any help? Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Milli Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I'd stop looking if I were you. Smoke has gone as far as I can tell. I was modding something and was comparing two files, one from 1.2.3 and another from 1.2.4 The file in question can be found here: DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Input\A-10C\keyboard\default.lua Comparing these two files I noticed that the keystroke to turn the smoke on and off has gone in 1.2.4 The line missing in 1.2.4 is this: {combos = {{key = 'T', reformers = {'LShift'}}}, down = iCommandPlaneWingtipSmokeOnOff, name = 'Smoke', category = 'Systems'}, So it looks as though there is no smoke from the wing tips any more. At least there is no key to start and stop it it anyway. Try pasting that line above into your default.lua and see if it enables your smoke. Just a thought. Regards, Milli
Keats Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 To change your loadout on the ramp press lalt + ' You can load smokewinders on stations 1 and 11 (right-click, found under 'Pods'). To activate them go to air-to-air mode and then pickle.
FreeFall Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I used to contact the ground crew and choose Air show, but now the weapon selection menu in the ATC is different. I can't find the smoke pylons, cause I don't really know what they're called. Any help? Before flying, open the Mission Editor and make a customized loadout with Smokewinders (pylons 1 and 11) and save it as "SmokeGens" or something like that. Now, when you in any mission contact the ground crew and ask for rearm, you can see your "SmokeGens" listed. Choose it, and you have your smoke. To activate them go to air-to-air mode and then pickle. If you choose air-to-air with MMCB, AFAIK both pylons (1 and 11) become selected if you have smoke generators on them. But if you go to DSMS, you can pick either one or both. Then just pickle.
ApoNOOB Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Hey FreeFall, I might be totally wrong here, but wasn't the whole "take loadout x" replaced by the rearming & refueling window? (For those that maybe haven't played with the new patch, where once was under 'ground crew' -> ' Rearming' and lot's of different loadouts, now is just "Rearming & Refuel'-window) Also if you are already aware of that and there is another way to load 'preset loadouts' please do tell. Sorry for engrish, very long awake here. :) Edited May 11, 2013 by ApoNOOB

Thank you, it worked. I went into the mission editor, went into the A-10C payload and created a new one. And as you mentioned, under Pods I was able to add smoke generators in all kinds of colors. Thank you for your help! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
