apollomaker Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Howdy All --- my old, trusty Saitek AV8R-01 has been around for a long time and served me well. But I am considering moving up a notch or so and getting a new stick. A number to choose from at various price points, but wow, the PROBLEMS that even the most expensive Thrustmasters appear to be having....I am scared. I could sure use some help from owners with experience with these newer devices and some comments on these issues. At one time, I had a Saitek X52 system (way back) at it would not hold a zero on two axes...just mechanically sloppy. Anyway, I hope the newer technology has found ways around these older issues without creating too many new issues ;) What say guys about a recommendation or two and some positive commentary? Many thanks in advance. Cheers --- Bob :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sim Box: Asus Maximus, Intel 4790 CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX-790 + 5GB VRAM, Win7-64, 1 KW supply
ericoh Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Hey, I've been running the X-52 for quiet a while and i have to say i was pretty happy with it. The only problem for me was that the X-52 was soft, you didnt need no force at all to move it, i didnt like that, i wanna move something when i fly. However i see alot of people that actualy make the HOTAS Warthog softer (whyever). A few months ago i moved to the HOTAS Warthog, first off all the build and material are stunning. It's like it has been forged by heavily armed elves in war simulation wonderland... Immersion wise it doesnt get better i believe. I have had no Problems with the Warthog so far, but you should know that not all buttons are 100% useable as they are for the A-10C. Hope this helps you a little, Greetings

Hello Ericoh -- thank you for your recommendation and it sounds like you are very pleased with the TMW. I certainly will consider it, but I do fly many different A/C both in DCS and FSX. I also need a stick that is precise with small movement input on the axes as I fly helos heavily and need this kind of precision without sticking. Thanks Again for your helpful comments --- Bob --- :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sim Box: Asus Maximus, Intel 4790 CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX-790 + 5GB VRAM, Win7-64, 1 KW supply
TonyStovepipe Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I was going to buy the x52 hotas but I went for a used thrustmaster hotas instead only a few days ago and loving it so far :) Be warned you would need rudder pedals as well. I have the saitek pro flight rudders on order should get them tomorrow. After using the TM hotas I can say that it's worth the money.
