Baracuda Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Hello Gentlemen, With all these fantastic modules already released and more to come in the future for this fabulous DCS World i am starting to wonder: A server has 32 slots so each side contain 16 slots ( combat servers) . Wil there be enough space for all the modules now and in the future? My concern is wil it be the case that some modules vanish and make place for new modules because there arnt enough slots for servers and admins dont add them anymore to the choice of flyables? Wouldnd it be better to implement the option to expand the server slots to 64 if needed ,when this is technically possible? I am talking abouth the near future. I think and i believe it was planned for the future , the solution is resting in implementing differend era maps in DCS. Just wondering :)
schroedi Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 First, you don't have to put every kind of aircraft in all missions. I not 100% sure but i think the "slots" (quantity of players) has nothing to do with the quantity of planes you can make as "client-planes". You can have a game limited to four players (slots) but there are 20 planes to choose from, so that everyone can choose the plane he wants to fly even if another person already is using the sam type of plane. So there would be no need to vanishing any modules.
Baracuda Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 dind know this schroedi :) I guess this did answer my questioning. Tnx
schroedi Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I don't know if there is a limit on the number of planes you can set as "client" in the editor.
MemphisBelle Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 A server has 32 slots so each side contain 16 slots ( combat servers) What do you understand a "Combat server" for? I am a Serveradmin of the =STP= Spare-Time-Pilots IX server and the amount of slots simply depends of my mood. So if I want to provide a 4 slots or a 99 slots server has absolutely nothings to do with any kind of a server. There´s no Combat server as well as there´s no freeflight or other purpose server. It simply depends on the current mission that is running. as soon as there is a reasonable amount of modules available, and I have missions on hand that cover the most available modules, so I´ll adjust the amount of slots....thats all ;). Hope questions is answered and concerns are gone :) BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
Ells228 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 You can have as many planes on an airfield to the amount of parking ramps available on that airfiled and then you can set to start on the runway (warm start) in addition to those. I'm sure there is a limit to that but I've never reached it.
