NinjaWrath Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Hi all, I just downloaded DSC world and bought the Huey module last weekend. However, when I try to load the game, it will go into the main menu but wont let me play most of the contents... Here is what happens in details: 1. I load DSC world, it loads fine, with music and I can fiddle with all the settings etc, and the Huey patch icon is activated down the bottom. 2. If I click on...say...Training, (since I want to learn how to fly a Huey properly), it will go to the loading screen, and sometime during loading, it will automatically EXIT TO WINDOWS, and give me an error message saying such as "...an error has occurred and windows will try to determine what caused it...etc". (I mean... really???) 3. I have to then click OK, then the message will go away and DSC will automatically reload it self and I then will be put back in the game with a Post Mission Summary menu. Sometimes this wont even happen....it will just idles in Windows after I clicked OK and I have to use Task Manager to manually close DSC! 4. This auto quitting happens with most things like Training, Campaign, Mission Editor, Multiplayer etc, both Huey and the Su-25 Frogfoot. The only part that I can play, is Instant Action, and even then, I can only play a few of the missions, eg. Huey ground easy attack, it is also has a 30% chance of doing the auto quitting thing when loading too. 5. When I am flying....eventually, the frame rate is usually not bad, but tends to be bit slow (~15fps or so) when theres lots of actions or enemies or smoke etc on screen, and the game will also tend to quit in those situations. Sometimes the instruments in the chopper will not load, I only see black empty holes where the gauges should be. 6. I thought I will turn down the details, maybe its too much for the pc to handle. So I set ALL setting to the lowest, resolution is at its lowest, all fancy features off, like heat blur, TSAA etc, 1024X768, turn off my trackIR5, even ran it in windowed mode (now this really sux from a gaming point of view!! especially on my 24" screen! WTF!!) And the problems are still there, nothing changes! Could it be my pc is too old and slow? I know it is a 4.5yr old gaming pc, but with all the other games that I have which are heavy on graphis, (Euro truck sim 2, Takeon Helicopters, Race room racing experience, Ghost Recon Future Soldier), they all run fine with no problems, keep in mind that they are some of the newer games that use DX10 and 11, so my pc can keep up. I may have to turn down a few setting options but the games run fine and smooth, there is no QUITTING TO WINDOWS bull crap! My pc has P4 dual core2 2.4ghz CPU, 8 gig DDR3 ram, HD7770 video card, Asus P5QC motherboard, trackIR5, Windows Home Premium and latest drivers. Please, anyone can shed some light on this issue? I cant justify $50 I just paid for this. Cheers!
Niehorst Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 ...you can't compare arcade games with such a hardcore sim! The workload on the cpu is very high! Until now I got an i7 920 in my rig (3930K next to it on the desktop :smilewink:) and it is working really hard during flight and gets quiet hot! Can't wait to see how my new system will cope with DCS World!!! I would say that your CPU is simply to weak! VH-Rock Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Are you running 32 or 64bit? DCS World only supports 64bit. Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008... Virtual Ultimate Fighters - Lead (P-47) - 2020...
Thomasew Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Are you running 32 or 64bit? DCS World only supports 64bit. Um, .. no it doesn't. I'm running Win 7 32-bit, .. and DCS World and all the addons work just fine. :) .. no problems at all. Cheers Tom He Who Will Not Risk Cannot Win

Cheers Tom For now at least.... DCS will soon be 64bit only (which is what I think he was referring to). OP - Sounds like you've got a very unstable environment. I've never experienced that many crashes (at least not with the recent updates - it's very stable). I assume you've got latest updates/drivers etc..?? If possible, a re-install of DCS? i7-4790K@4.7GHz : EVGA 1070 SC : 16GB Corsair Vengence Pro : 2xEVO 840 SSD : EVGA 850W PSU : CORSAIR H100i Cooler : ASUS Z97-AR MB : CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 750D FULL TOWER
martinistripes Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Could be a number of things but it's not the sim, since it's been very stable for a long time now. If you auto-updated to the latest version of DCS, have the latest video and sound drivers and Windows up to date, decent anti-virus/spyware I can only guess it's your hardware playing up. Your GPU and RAM are fine. I'm not sure about the P4. It's an older CPU, perhaps it's coming to the end of it's life. Good luck finding a solution. Valve Index | RTX 4080 (Mobile) | i9-14900HX @ 2.20 GHz | 32GB RAM
Lane Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) Can you check the setting on your CCC ( 7770 driver ). Set: - AF = Use appliccations setting - AA = Use appliccations setting MSAA Filters = standard, ( dont set adaptative AA or SSAA as it will conflict with in game AA ) all setting by default and check MLAA is not enabled as it will conflict with it. If you force some setting under the catalyst control center, it can enter in conflict with DCS game settings. I use the last 13.5 beta 2 driver and no problem with it. VH-Rock Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 ED have announced that DCS World will only support 64 bit soon. I thought that was to be implemented with 1.2.4, but maybe not ;) Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008... Virtual Ultimate Fighters - Lead (P-47) - 2020...

Thanx for ur help ppl My AF and AA are set to Use App Settings. I never changed anything in Catalyst Control Centre. MSAA Filter is on Standard, and MLAA is OFF. I might use the 13.5 beta 2 driver and see how we go. I think its my CPU is too old, its no way as fast as a core i7.
