As the topic states just wondering what the thinking is behind doing that instead of doing button A as on & off.

I noticed this on a few things when setting up a HOTAs profile, just a tad confusing and ends up using more buttons.

Not a big deal anyone else have an opinion on this?

If you are programming actual switches, it makes it easier. I wish they had done all of the switches that way.

I don't know if I exactly got the op, but I would love have separate keybindings for "on" and "off" also. ED did a great job with the P-51 regarding this matter. There, for most of the buttons, you can bind a button to toggle the position of the switch and a button to set the same switch to a defined position. I would love to do the same in the Huey, especially for the master arm switch, so I would not have to worry what the current setting is and could simply hit a button on my keyboard to bring it to the desired position. (LShift+A for armed, A for safe and LCtrl+A for off)

That and having a shortcut for the darn "RPM warning of switch" are my only open wishes for DCS:Huey So if anyone from Belsimtek is reading this post, please read it like "Hell, what great game we made. People are happy and just wishing for more shortcuts and we haven't even released it yet" ;-)

I am certain that the keymap is not finalized. There are too many missing items, and a few inconsistencies in the way some switches are mapped, for this to be a finished product. Especially when I look at the obvious attention to detail throughout the sim.

Abit of playing around in the Lua's should solve your problem. For example the fuel valve switch has one input to switch it on & off. Binding this to a 2 position switch means you need to flick the switch twice for it to switch in game once. Easily solved in your device Lua by adding the bolded text.

" {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN10"}, }, down = 3003, up = 3003, cockpit_device_id = 2, value_down = 0, value_up = 1, name = "Main Fuel Switch", category = "Pedestal"}, "

There are no update on this topic, are there? After being flying the P-51 for a while, I am missing the possibility to grope my way through the cockpit / over the keyboard without looking at the current setting again.
