Dagger71 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) Hi all, Hoping to have my rig and DCS modules ready in less than a month. Have a few questions regarding multiplayer. To start I will probably be getting A10c and CA. So most of my time will be spent learning about the sim. But I know how much I love multiplayer (both coop and PVP) team play, so I think at least 50% will be spent playing MP. I noticed some really cool events happening but one thing I noticed was unit selection for both teams. Now I haven't ever played FC Russian planes, but i was always under the impression, that they have corresponding versions to any NATO AC and in the end it will usually always end up that experience and training will usually determine e outcome of an engagement between similar A/c. F15 vs su27 F16 vs mig29 A10 vs su25 (I mean to compare ese two in terms of ground support roles) So far in most of the events I have seen red side given F15s even though the SU27 should be the Russian "version" of this fighter. I understand the the US usually have better avionics and electronic modules in their A/C and AFVs, but in this sim are the Russian units that much inferior that to have balance we have to mix AC to with OPFOR? I played a ton of WWII online and in each tier there was always a side which had better units, but yet it was part of the fun and made the underdog have to coordinate that much better to gain the upper hand. If the allies were ever given 88s and Tiger tanks to help even out a campaign, I never would have played for so long. Ido intend to join again since its such a great game when with a good squad. A while ago, there was a patch that basically killed the game for me so I played a little world of tanks until the bug was fixed, but I could not stand seeing all the same models being played by bi sides until one day I uninstalled it. I hope that is not what I will be seeing in MP I the DCS world. Any input would be appreciated Edited May 24, 2013 by Dagger71

Grimes Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 The simple fact is that the aircraft available depends entirely on the mission and what the mission builder decided to put in it. Some view giving the same aircraft to both sides as a balanced and equally appeasing mission design for anyone who might want to fly, others don't. I fall into the latter category. I don't get to fly PvP all that much, so I'd at least hope that there are servers hosting the various formats. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. shagrat Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 One reason in the past was, that only the F-15C had the new 3D-6DOF Cockpit. This is now also available for the SU-27. Another "problem" is the different systems/avionics... no the russian planes are not inferior, but they are different. They require people to learn different representation of radar, RWR and other systems. So especially servers hosting PvP missions for their own virtual squadron mates may choose a plane that everybody is familiar with. My bet is this will change quickly, with the SU-27 attracting more people and I'm sure there will be enough who like the challenge of "You have to think in russian!" :D Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
