Here's some pretty good video. Shots are from the movie "Sky Fighters".

The movie is not that great but Eric Magnan did a great job on capturing those shots.

Sky Fighters was filmed in co-operation with the French Air Force. Initially the standard safety rules applied, but eventually the minimum allowed altitude was reduced to 3 m (10 ft) and the minimum distance between aircraft was reduced to 1 m (3 ft). The filming of these flight sequences seen in the film were mainly done from the air, as opposed to Top Gun where most of the filming was done from the ground.

To achieve this, one of the Mirage's external fuel tanks was modified to fit a camera. A HD camera was considered for this purpose, but it did not fit in the fuel pod. Tracking shots were done from a hired Lear Jet.

Additionally, jet aircraft are not allowed to fly over Paris. As a result of this, all the Paris filming had to be done on the actual Bastille Day (14 July) for which the filming crew got special permission.

I agree, the movie plot is terrible and the actors are meh.... But the shots are breathtaking. Its these shots where you get cold shivers on your back. :D

Yep the movie was terrible, the nice Mirage sequences (excepting the few CGI ones that are meh) do not save the thing.

The comic it is taken from was way better (Tanguy et Laverdure, from Charlier and Uderzo edited from 1959 to this day), there was also a TV show, airing in the sixties or seventies in France.

The movie was a great excuse for an aviation film. We really need more of such excuses. IMHO Top Gun was a bit worse... story wise (put down those knifes :P ). But both of them are the best aviation movies I saw. The last years junk doesn't count.

edit.

Nice remake ericoh!

P.S. Speed & Angels is an exception... probably because is not made in bolywood... errr... 'olyuuuud...
