Different screenshot post methods

I can't find an answer in any thread so far so I'll just ask this noob question.

 

Sometime screenshots are posted as thumbnails and sometimes the images are seen as resized versions of the original in the post.

 

I know the thumbnail version is by using the attachments method which I have used a number of times but how do you post a shot directly in the thread?

 

The usual .[/img]... method shows nothing when attempting a preview. So how is this achieved? I have images in Photobucket and Image Shack etc but the different forum embedding options don't seem to work in the ED forum?

Thanks Shadow Step I understand that method as I do exactly that in numerous other forums its just that that doesn't appear to work here in the ED forums which is why I posted.
