Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) I would like to know if the model used in DCS World has any of the following: 1) A canted vertical fin, to counter prop effects for cruise power settings 2) A canted thrust (canted engine), for the same reasons of 1) I do not make the slightest idea if the real p51d has these features, just wondering.... Can anyone enlighten me? Edited June 9, 2013 by jcomm Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
sobek Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 1) Yes, you can observe this clearly in the 3d model in the sim. 2) I don't think so, but i'm not sure. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 1) Yes, you can observe this clearly in the 3d model in the sim. Thx Sobek, it is indeed evident, and I noticed that too, but I wondered if that was only being graphically represented, without translation into the flight dynamics model. Thank you very much for your answer !!!! Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
sobek Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I'm rather certain that the surface angle is taken into account. The trim settings at various speeds would not be realistic if they didn't take this into account. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Merlin-27 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I do not make the slightest idea if the real p51d has these features, just wondering.... As far as the real thing I remember reading about the offset vertical tail surface but not sure about the engine mount. Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Ok, thank you for all your answers! It makes sense that the flight model really takes into account the offset of the fin I could easily see when looking at the aircraft from the outside...
