metheluckydonut Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 If it ain't broke, don't fix it. +1 Also I'm pretty sure that the 2010 redistributable includes the 2008 libraries. The whole C++ redist. thing in windows is a mess anyway. DCS Wishlist: Ka 26
aussieboy Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) C++ 2008 redist is an old version, too old. It's not even meant to be installed on Win7 or 8 systems. Check the system requirements here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15336 metheluckydonut, You can't say the C++ redist thing is a mess because that's just not the case at all. Including an out dated redist in an modern software package would be more of a concern. Unless you're running WinXP, Vista or Win Server 2003 the 2008 redist is a waste of space and an unnecessary DL. Edited July 14, 2013 by aussieboy

It depends on what version ED built the products on. Some products may be built on older compilers and may require the older 2008 C++ libraries. (DLL-hell). The 2010 DLL contains the same features as 2008, but it doesn't have the same signature. 2010 can only be used if you have compiled your products towards the 2010 DLL's. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
