Pilotasso Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 For those who felt the x52 spring tension to be too ligh here it goes: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=7681&highlight=spindles Did it with a holed rubber disc. It still feels odd as the spring force is almost constant all the way. But at least prevents overcontrol better. .
Pilotasso Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 Ah! OK heres the principle of the MOD: I doubt the dude who posted this picture knows that the MOD cant be donne this way because theres not enough free space left by the coil fully compressed, but this is how it works in principle: Use a holed disk shaped object to increase the springs pre-loading, by adding it to the bottom or top of the spring. (the picture wrongly shows the disk being suported by the base's axis outer diamenter. You have to make the hole big enough to let it pass through. Heres what the saitek personel have to say about it: "The stick was designed to be light to move - give it time and you will get used to it. If you must though, you could insert something between the spring coils underneath the handle there - this would push them apart and increase the tension of the handle's movement. If you get blank CDs on spindles, those foam spacers that are usually on top of the stack of CDs when you unwrap it can be good for this." I have tryed this myself (placed a rubber disk up on the sring) and it did increase the force by a factor of 2 but its still a constant force no matter how much you deflect the stick. .
zenTera Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 There are two screws at the bottom of the handle which seem to fix it to the metal rod in the middle. Wouldn't it be easier to loosen them, slide the whole handle down for some millimeters and tighten them again? Don't know if this kind of 'height adjustment' is possible, but if so, it would have the same effect. Anyway, I won't try it on my X-52, because I'm glad with it's spring tension. What I hated much more was the strong tension of the X-45. You really had to screw it to a base plate to prevent the whole base of the stick from moving up when moving the stick.
junae Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Hi, I have a X52, and so far it's working perfectly, I like the stick tension and don't think about changing it... But I know there's some problems with the circular ring in the stick's base when it wears off. Do you know how to disassemble it, to change the plastic ring by a metal one? =FN= Six o'Clock Member of Falcões da Noite Squadron Florianopolis :: Brazil
