Version 2014.11.17.102

 

- Fixed misaligned cockpit views (for some reason, version after version, several directories with "stuff" get included into the mission files...)

- Fixed SU-34 not respawing. Fixed

 

Outstanding issue: in the last version of DCSW 1.2.11, the F-18s are stuck in the sea when taking off from the carrier Vinson. Did not do that before...

- Fixed random routes to Anapa for deployed infantry from the Chinook CH-53E helicopters... Due to some code changes I messed this up. It is fixed now... Troops are now niecely following the random path towards Anapa airbase.

- Thanks to prof_hilactic, I've used his script and code, and rewrote parts of it to my new Object Oriented lua mission design framework, as a result, some of the SAMs are now acting with more intelligence.

Looks good but haven't found a up to date dl link (last in this thread is 2014.05.05.069) or the server (I'm on 1.2.11.34087).

I am am currently working on a large improvement for the task force mission goal functions and task functions. So that all works event driven and I can minimize all loops to have maximum performance on the server. That is the reason why I removed the link. I have learned it is better not to post unfinished products, because then people will hook off... Once the updates are finished, the new version will be posted with the link. Same for the gori valley mission.

Server is up. DCS Belgium Server 1.2.14, running this mission.

 

I need to update the briefing in this post, because it is outdated for a few task forces..

 

Feel free to try out the mission on the server...

I'll post the mission when ready.

 

Could not host the mission the past couple of days because of that MI-26 bug... Now it is running really smooth and stable. Thanks ED!

 

Have already seen lots of players on the mission, some stay about 3 hours in here :-)

Version 2015-01-04.134

 

- Updated briefing pages. See first page here:http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=110990

- Mission goals work now correctly. AI contributes on the mission goals.

- Helicopter defenses work okay for the UH-1H missions. Pickup and deploy infantry.

- Infantry deployment zones are now guarded by Russian units...

- When infantry is dropped, they capture the Georgian SAM sites and activate them for additional air defenses for the blue side...

- Updated a lot of code for the framework that i'm building to encapsulate complexity of mission tasking...

- Added statistics for the new web page site.

- Some ground troops stop moving when too much total ground forces are moving. Too much ground forces moving cause LAG. It is also more realistic. A ground unit will move and stop from time to time ...

- SA-6 now patrolling correctly on the roads, as the bridge BUG is fixed since 1.2.14.

- and much more... Too much to write actually.

It needs some decent scoring and statistics tracking.

Also, it still contains some bugs, especially with the SU-34 planes respawning logic.

If you guys really want to have this mission, I can post it like I did for Gori Valley, but it is not finished yet... Had lots of ideas which are still in development. The problem is time for me.

I wanted to fly with a wing. I ended up going up solo, but could not find the helicopters I was looking for. My flight plan told me to go south, but the briefieng said they were in the north, so I was pretty confused and lost. I instead took down two A-10Cs and 2 Su-25Ts from the blue team... then practiced my carrier traps.

Were you flying a ka50? I'll check that confusion because it should not be... I'll fix this. Please be specific which slot you selected?

I was flying an Su-33 from Admiral Kuznetsov. I selected the first open Su-33 slot I could find (which I believe was the first on the list).

Note that in order to fly this mission, you'll need to run it on a Server and connect to it from a Client. There is too much going on to run it in single player mode ... FPS will be very low when you do that.

Yes, the original Anapa Airbase Invasion was a favourite of mine, so I jumped at trying a modern update.

 

As I don't have a separate server, I only played to see how the UH-1H action panned out (SP at 15 fps), rather than how Anapa Invasion is *meant* to be played.

 

So unfortunately haven't tried the oil derrick rescue.

 

I tend to sample 'Anapa' in small bites due to low FPS and the fact it's really designed to be played cooperatively on a dedicated server but hope to get around to it, if my fps aren't any worse in the Mi-8.

 

Currently I've been focused on UH-1H practice, so it could be a while, especially if/when the Gazelle comes to Steam.

Yes... It is really hard to organize a coop session when not in a squadron. I revised all the other tasks too. I am thinking on breaking up the anapa into separate single player missions and make a small campaign out of it. It will help with the framerates because I can delete the units not dealing with the other tasks in the co-op. Would such be a good idea?

Actually, I see the gazelle playing a primary role in the blue task forces 1 and 3 and escorting in 4. I'll add the gazelle to the mission as I also purchased it. Especially the rescue missions may be really fun.

Often playing *good* single player missions, I want to introduce friends to them by playing them in coop (compatibility allowing), I wouldn't want to lose that.

 

Part of Anapa Invasion's 'fun' is viewing the missions in Tacview and seeing just how much is going on in theatre or going 'off script' and still finding threats, etc.

 

However, DCS isn't BMS and breaking Anapa Invasion into smaller chunks to improve performance so hosts/single players could play would be good.

Maybe i should make a multi player campaign out of it instead of a full coop. For the same reasons as in the previous post.

The ideal would be to have the ai allies/enemy/win conditions scale with the number of real players i.e. if no SEAD players -> ai SEAD/fewer SAM spawn, etc.

 

As long as PART of each mission objective was achievable by a single player it's something I'd enjoy however you decided to cut it up.

Hi Ramsay, thanks for your advise. On the topic where you mention if missions are achievable by a single player, the operational missions are achievable, the primary and secondary aren't. I think I'll spend some time breaking the mission up into pieces, same with Gori valley...
