The jets have 4-5 autopilot modes and the two barometric and altitude hold appear to be the same.

Should these differ in their operation, and I'm curious why altitude hold has a sudden down pitch then up before settling. Is this to account for the planes AOA trimming? One has to be cautious when flying at 50ft.

I guess if you're flying over sea they would act the same.

 

I found that only the barometric altitude hold seems to work for me . But you can't really use that when flying low over the ground i guess :D

Activating any auto pilot system @ 50' is not a good idea...

 

Hehe I know. It's deathwish action to attend to another task :cry:

 

I'll test more tonight, I recall autopilot altitude hold mode in FC2 was less aggresive in pitch stabilising to FC3, it's a sudden down 3deg, up then stabilise action.
