Viper99 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Hi, I want to create a scenario where one or serveral units are defecting. They must start beloning to red or blue and then change side when a certain criteria is met. This is cruicial for ROE, and if the unit(s) are classified as targets or not for either side. I also see the need for rouge armies, that does not belong to any coalision. Which will be treated as targets for either side. Hence: I want to classify a unit as Red, Blue or Rouge as defined by set criterias. Best regards :smartass:
St3v3f Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I doubt that's possible. You can't change a country's coalition mid-mission and afaik, neither can you place units of a country that does not belong to either coalition in the first place. The only possibility would be to despawn a group and create an identical group of another country. e.g. despawn a georgian T-72 and spawn a russian one. aka: Baron [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ENO Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) For the rogues what I've done in the past is use a random trigger to choose between two groups... one is blue and one is red. Using a random flag it created a value that established which troops were going to spawn in. Basically- a "window dressing" unit is placed in the field- and two "late activation" groups of similar makeup are placed in the same area... The randomizer once fired through the trigger system determines which of the two groups (blue or red) is activated. Once this happens the "window dressing" is deactivated and disappears. This is all assuming the group that is rogue is stationary at the start... I have a mission called "Welcome to the Suk" that is dynamic in that I have something similar working- the "rogue" group are actually local military who will choose which side they are on based on certain criteria... Depending on which side they choose establishes what your strategy is. Either you have to soften up their defensive positions with aircraft to support an invasion of Sukhumi, or you have to soften up the incoming red attacking force so that the locals have a chance to defend against them. Anyway, that works for me and can also for you. I also thought there was a "neutrals" area... but it works kind of in reverse to what you want in that they're not supposed to be "targets" for either side. St3v3s solution for the defecting elements was the same that I was going to recommend. Edited September 3, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret.
