HydroBIG BANG Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Im trying to download the 1.2.6 update and at its current rate it looks like it will take about 2 hours to download the 2 gig update at speeds which fluctuate between 14KB/s and 600KB/s,when I update on steam i get around 3-4 MB/s.This happens every time i download a new patch.I just saw it update DCS world on steam and it only took a few minutes, also note that I have a really fast connection and the download speed I get with the updater is absolutely ridiculous compared to when I download anything else.Does this happen for everyone else too or is it just me?
SnowTiger Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I know this is an Ancient Thread/Post .. but it is still relevant IMO. Why is it that the best download speed I have ever gotten is 0.8 MB/s ? Other than Re-Purchasing everything via Steam or otherwise, without involving Steam at all (which I would prefer), is there ANY way to increase these ridiculously slow download rates ? dagandolfo Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Well I'm only on adsl and im getting upto 1.7Mb/s when DCS auto updates. When DCS updated itself this afternoon it was peaking at 1.7Mb/s
SnowTiger Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I also have ADSL but I have never gotten more than 0.8 MB/s !! That isn't a whole lot better than the Dial-Up bandwidth I got when I lived so far in the bush I had to come Out to go hunting !! Usually it's more like 0.5 .... either way it blows. It is annoyingly and painfully slow regardless of file size. When downloading Files (eg: User Files etc) from DCS Website, I/We can use Mirror Servers such as Eastern or Western USA. Those provide "normal" download speeds. But the DCS World Updates are extremely slow. Buzzles Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Have you considered monitoring your network traffic to figure out the destination IP of the update server, and then run Tracert to find out just where it's being routed? I'd imagine ED's servers are probably in Russia or Eastern Europe, which is why I get a decent download rate, but you, being over the pond and all, don't. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
