FlightControl Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Hi, Find enclosed this small test mission. I am really confused about AFAC on the Russian side. Can somebody help please? I just am not able to get an AI KA-50 unit (or any other helicopter unit) with the task type AFAC, from the red team, to fire smoke rockets to a blue ground target, to identify its position to the other units. Anybody has experience with this type of mission unit configuration? For some reason, some targets are not 'targets' as far as the AI is concerned. Missile launchers without a way to launch them being one of them. The missile launchers pose no threat so the AI ignores them. The hmmwv I replaced it with is also not a threat, but it is a target, so the KA-50 did attack it with smoke. Okay, i wrote this test mission because of another mission that i am creating, and where i see unexpected behaviour of the helicopter. It works indeed when the target is assigned as a task. Now try to do the same with a "search and engage" target task type... I've uploaded a new test mission for reference. He sees the target, he aims, but he does not fire... Not even one shot. Grimes Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Appears to be a bug with helicopter AI. Plane AI have no problem with firing smoke rockets at targets with the same tasking setup. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Aside from letting everyone else know its an issue in the open beta forum, there isn't much of a need to make a post about it. You can try to set in the Patriot group the ICC car. Helicopter have to attack him. Helicopter have to attack him. I am sorry, but i am confused now. Is this bug confirmed by Eagle? If not, please try the attached mission in this post only. You'll see that I have multiple blue valid targets set out in the mission and I've put the ROE to weapon hold. And the Ka-50 is seeing them, flying to them, aiming, but not engaging ... No smoke. Please try the mission and confirm is this is a bug or not. I'll also post it in the 1.2.7 open beta section.
