*sigh* :noexpression: I didn't want to make this thread, but I have no other recourse. Does anyone know, or maybe have a solution to my x52 problem? Description below:

Every time I remap one of the axis, to input a key or a combination of a key. The joystick crashes and goes unresponsive, that means I lose control of the plane, in certain situations the whole throttle and and drivers go bonkers.

- Tried driver and software re-install (Software and Drivers 7.0.27.13)

- Tried going to some early drivers and it was a no go

- I could, probably give it a go with drivers from 2006, but I'm afraid my profiles will be useless.

So, where I live a new one is totally out of the question.

Here's an example, which is similar to every other product you can find.

HOTAS Warthog -> US$$429.99

$71.97 Estimated shipping & handling

$501.96 Total before tax

$0.00 Estimated tax to be collected

$477.46 Import Fees Deposit

$979.42 Estimated order total

End result, if the local IRS doesn't feel cheeky and charge something extra just for shitz and giggles for some dumb reason whatsoever or the local mail doesn't lose, or damage the package, I will pay US$979.42. And this is still cheaper than US$1,371 from a local retail.

And here is me raging on a video, trying to show or display some of the problem.

Please notice the flashing LED lights.

So, I'm open for any suggestion, until I can leave this hellhole where I currently live in, I have to live with a joystick like that :joystick::cry:

Which axis are you trying to map and how are you doing it? I am sure the solution is something simple.

Well, I go to the profile editor and select the ministick(for example)

and I change it to "directional axis", it will display me 2 options or 2 new entries, positive and negative.

I can't remember the keystroke I was using on it(this happens on every simulator or game or even on windows itself, so its not DCS), but lets use K and L as an example

I map K and L for positive and negative axis respectively.

If I try to use the joystick or even touch the ministick, it will crash. The joystick will stop functioning and the ministick will never deliver its input.

Now, if I even, remotely think of using the pinky switch + any axis that has been remapped, it will instantly stop functioning(wont even get a few seconds of use before the crash)

Device manager and uninstall the usb devices and hubs, then restart your pc and they will be detected again and reinstall.

That may help ?

I've tried a reinstall, a uninstall, cleaned it up in fail safe, and even changed ports(With this problem I decided to transfer the USB connector to a USB hub on my keyboard, so when it crashes I can just move my hand and unplug the USB and plug it again). I can't be ducking around behind my PC to do that, since I'm still recovering from a surgery.

Today I decided to open the Joystick at the bottom and check for anything loose, or any that may be causing it. Everything was fine, and since I was already with the joystick open, I decided to do the magnet mod(I'm going to try it now and see how it goes)

thanks for the reply guys! :)

Small update:

Well, the magnet mod makes my flying soooooooooooooo much better.

The bad news: Any remapped axis and the joystick is a gonner and I'm heading for the ground.

HERE'S HOW TO REPRODUCE IT:

Map the slider to directional axis, insert any key, doesn't matter what. Just for the heck of it "X" and "Y". Save the profile, attach to the joystick.

Now open the Test Profile, and use the slider... it will display the X and Y, but now do that and move the joystick. *Boom* Crash, and starts flashing.

Did you uninstall the saitek drivers and software only or did you uninstall the usb devices from Windows Device manager ?

The usb devices in device manager will actually uninstall the usb hubs on your motherboard, if its them thats causing the problem, when you uninstall via device manager and then reboot your pc, the usb hubs get re-detected by windows and then reinstalled automatically, as if the usb hubs drivers themselves got bugged or glitched, then doing this may solve the problem you are having.

If it is the hubs that are causing it, uninstalling and reinstalling the saitek drivers and software wont fix it.

Anyway I was just clarifying if you had uninstalled the usb root hubs etc via device manager.

If not its worth a try.

I dont have any of these problems, im running 7.0.27.13.

The flashing joystick only happens when the wire between the joystick and the Hotas is losing connection with one or the other.

I can give you my profile see if it works?

also IDK why youre trying to map an axis to the directional axis, since they have their on axis and you can use them like that ingame, and im unsure you can do it, it may be cause interference since there will be two thing using the same axis.

EDIT: right after posting this ironically my x52 started going bonkers, it would read the rotaries at all, and after that the buttons didnt get registered properly, through the software even though the control panel was showing that everything is fine, i replaced the wire and, what do you know, everything works fine all of a sudden, those PS/2 connections really suck.

I've already tried doing that a month or so ago to fix another problem I was having(unrelated to X52), but it was a no go as well. I will try to do the fix suggested by karambiatos first, because, so far, the original problem I had(latency issues, crackling and popping of sound) hasn't come back.

I think I might have a spare PS/2 cable around here...somewhere. I will give it a go and report back as soon as I try it. If not...I'll have to buy one :music_whistling:

Also, I do that because some games and even DCS itself doesn't have an option to insert an AXIS on certain things, like the airbrakes or flaps on A-10A

I had the same problem with MFD but I fixed it using version 6.0.4.1 for the driver and 7.0.2.7 for the SST.

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/softw*are/full/

saitek ftp for the drivers :3

Would that cause any issues with the current SST and the profiles I have?

Well, no PS/2 cables. But I did find lots of dust, developed an annoying allergy and found an old ISA board and a pair of old SCSI connector

Cracking and popping sound can be caused by creative soundcards, especially the xfi range.

Me and thousands of other people suffered fom the snap crackle pop syndrome which was caused by creatives hardware or software.

As soon as the creative shit is out of the loop, the snap crackle pop problem dissappeared for basically everyone.

I am only mentioning this incase you have a creative xfi soundcard.

I HAD one, as soon as I found out this was one of the reasons, I took the card out of my pc. The latency issues were still present, even after reformats and drive cleaning, but it occurred 50% less.

Now I need to buy a PS/2 cable, but "winter" is almost over, and oven like temps has began with dry weather... I can't even be bothered to go out. I might bump the thread when I do buy it and test it.

PS: Winter was 2 weeks with balmy temperatures and the rest hot, extra hot and oven :P

I also noticed that running the teamspeak hotkey setting in default mode causes a lot of problems with the joystick, switching it to direct input mode seems to fix it, so you could try doing that if you had teamspeak running while taking the video.

Settings>Options>Hotkeys>little dropdown menu in the lower right corner.

Nope, I didn't.

But thanks for the idea. I'm starting to think it could be the weather, or something else. Yesterday I had my PC overheat while playing DCS. (Even if I cleaned up its fans a month ago, has 2 enormous fans sucking "cool" air in, and a gigantic fan blowing hot air out and it 's CPU is water cooled.)

I have bought a power wired usb hub. Seems the Saitek drains to much power from the USB ports on the computer. I am using Win7 & 8 64 bit and on both OS same problem. In flight the joystick was flashing on and off every time and lost control off the planes. Since I used the powered USB hub, no problem at all!
