I thought I had found the issue when I realized that my sound card was on the shared pci-e bus, but going from 8x to 16x did nothing fps wise.

Anyway, that's a good point.

What did some improvments on my system (see graph) is a driver update for my graphics card I performed today.

Maybe you want to try that too if you didn't allready. :smilewink:

Again, thank you for your help, I downloaded the newest nvidia driver, it did nothing for my FPS though, it's something else that's the problem I think.

Verify the speed of the CPU core and the GPU core when running DCS. Use Cpu-z and GPU-z

Nate

GPU core clock is 1019 Mhz and CPU 4326.9 Mhz according to CPU-Z and GPU-Z

GPU memory clock is 1500.

And I have a GPU load of 97%

(I also reinstalled DCS so I got a clean installation)

I want to thank both of you for trying to help.

The problem was a cable lodged in between the card and the motherboard, making it unable to be fully inserted in the slot.

It worked perfectly fine otherwise so it was kind of odd.

Anyway, thank you!

Very good that you could sort out your problems!

Sometimes, there are problems which you just wouldn't suspect.

Upgrading to a new CPU did wonders for DCS in my case.

I only recently upgraded my graphics card to a Radeon HD7970 OC less than six months ago, and was quite pissed off with the lack of performance gain. I still had stutters, fps issues, and very annoying performance drops when looking in specific directions etc. , even with the graphics turned down to accomodate.

My old CPU was an AMD FX-8150 and I upgraded to a i7 4770k a few weeks ago. The difference is night and day. I can now fly the sim very smoothly with all the graphics settings I want.

IMHO in your case upgrading GFX makes more sense. GTX770 costs less than half of i7-975, but gives you higher performance boost. I went for it from 6970 too...

If despite of that you still want to upgrade CPU, there is no reason to invest in s1366 anymore, if you can get more powerful socket1150/2011-based cpu+mobo for less money, than i7-975.

Rhinox is right. You have your CPU oc'ed to 3.8 so staying with the same tech. wouldn't do much for your setup.

You would notice a gain in updating to the newer ver of that technology as they have added tech. not available when those CPUs were marketed.

1366 based CPUs MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AES, EM64T

1155 based CPUs SSE4.1/4.2, AVX (Newer ver. of Multi Medea instructions rendered the others obsolete)

2011 based CPUs SSE4.2, AVX

With the differing iterations of the processors various multi Medea instruction sets are available but you get the point I am sure.

I had a very similar experience. A few months back I upgraded my GPU from an AMD HD6950 to an Nvidia GTX 670 and saw practically no performance increase in DCS World. A few days ago I upgraded my processor from a 1090t to an i5 4670k, and the difference was huge! DCS World went from averaging 20-30 FPS during combat to 50-60 FPS, making the game playable.

I just upgraded to a gtx 780 from a 680 and performance became noticeably better. The only thing I did was swap out the card, everything, including the drivers, were the same. The su-25a had stutter issues when looking into the cockpit and around certain airports and towns, but now it is smooth as silk, loving it. I am kind of stunned at how much a change for the better the 780 is, I was sure that one of the haswell i5 or i7 K's would be the next upgrade to enhance performance.
