Rider1 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Can anyone let me know if they are not getting any indication on the RWR that the gear is tracking lasers aimed at you from enemy tanks and such? Or could it be that tanks are no longer lasing jets? I flew a mission on the Firehouse Server and was engaging a horde of tanks on a hillside and the laser warning gear didn't get up a single hit to it, and the tanks were firing up at me pretty good... Thanks
ralfidude Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I still see them since like 2 days ago. The fact that BRDMs are more dangerous to the A10 than a Shilka however, has not changed. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Rider1 Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Cool, thanks man. May have been mission specific.
ralfidude Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 depends on the armor. T55s wont have them i dont think. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Wichid Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 A-10C's tracking lasers? The L stands for missile 'L'aunch on the RWR. Or am I missing something? Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
Evil.Bonsai Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 A-10C's tracking lasers? The L stands for missile 'L'aunch on the RWR. Or am I missing something? The L on the RWR is indeed laser warning. And it does work. Made a brief mission with 4 groups of 3 t80s: got Ls all over the RWR. Depends on the vehicle and whether or not they have lasers to target with. M on the RWR is for missile launch detection
Anastasiuss Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Can you post an picture with an "L" on a RWR? I am never before noticed a L in RWR The A-10C have a AN/ALR-69 Radar Warning Receiver. No capability to receive Laser transmissions. The Ka-50 have only an Laser Warning Receiver but no RWR. Maybe I have forgotten even something. ?? Eddie Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 The Missile approach Warning System also acts as a laser warner.
ralfidude Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 MWS, why do you think you get missile warnings of incoming heat seeking missiles if they dont have radar? [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 The A-10C have a AN/ALR-69 Radar Warning Receiver. No capability to receive Laser transmissions. [...] Maybe I have forgotten even something. ?? You forgot that the AN/ALR-69 is not the only system feeding data to what we colloquially call "the RWR" display in the cockpit. Multiple threat detecton and evaluation systems feed in there, including the MWS (warns against missile launches by detecting the plume of a rocket motor) and laser detection equipment. Indata from all sources is handled by onboard computers and the combined threat picture then displayed on your "RWR" scope.
