Trim Animation Wrong

Recommended Posts

I don't think is affecting the flight characteristics of the aircraft at all but the trim animations are backwards on the rudder, elevators, and ailerons (actually the trim tab on the right wing doesn't appear to move at all). Not a big deal really but I thought I should mention it in case it hasn't been caught yet.

its normal, a trim works moving the oposite way..

From google =)

The tab is moved in the direction opposite that of the primary control surface, to relieve pressure on the control wheel or rudder control. For example, consider the situation in which we wish to adjust the elevator trim for level flight. ("Level flight" is the attitude of the airplane that will maintain a constant altitude.) Assume that back pressure is required on the control wheel to maintain level flight and that we wish to adjust the elevator trim tab to relieve this pressure. Since we are holding back pressure, the elevator will be in the "up" position. The trim tab must then be adjusted downward so that the airflow striking the tab will hold the elevators in the desired position. Conversely, if forward pressure is being held, the elevators will be in the down position, so the tab must be moved upward to relieve this pressure. In this example, we are talking about the tab itself and not the cockpit control.

Im not sure, but the right wing may have a Bendable Trim Tab... is a trim that you "Bend" with the hand before take off =)

He-he.... and now try to compare servo tab (the same as trimmer) movement as rudder and one of ailerons move. :)

Wait the P-51D just uses the basic trim tab system on it's control surfaces though is that correct? Not balance tabs, anti balance tabs, or servo tabs?

Also would I be correct in saying that the A-10C uses servo tabs (directly linked to the control system) in MRFCS for it's aileron control and balance tabs (moving in the opposite direction of the control movement to reduce the force required to move the elevator) in the elevator?

I'm getting a bit confused lately as I'm getting ready to do my PPL and am studying the Principles of Flight study material. It lists Fixed Tabs, Trim Tabs, Balance Tabs, Anti-balance Tabs, and Servo Tabs as the current tabs in use today, and I've been trying to figure out what proper tab systems the A-10C and P-51 use. Usually they all just given the identity of 'trim tab' in the manual and on diagrams so to get more info on what systems my two favorite aircraft actually use would be awesome.
