pctoptech Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Hello all, I have a frustrating problem. The interconnect cord on my X-52 was damaged. I replaced it with a male to male ps2 cord. The problem is, the throttle works fine and the joystick lights up but no response from any of the axis or buttons on the joystick. The original cord that came with the X-52 is about twice as thick as the replacement, and I am wondering if there is an issue with pin put or number of active pins. any advice or help would be greatly appreciated as my X-52 is useless right now and it seems a shame to replace it over a cord. Thanks in advance. cichlidfan Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 The cable is a standard PS2 pinout. I had to replace mine almost right out of the box. The cable I used is the type that would be used with an 'old-school' KVM switch. It sounds like your problem might be the connector in the stick or throttle instead of the cable. Although, I would allow a small possibility that your replacement cable is defective. EtherealN Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 It sounds like your problem might be the connector in the stick or throttle instead of the cable. Agreed. My x-52 also developed a problem with the connector. Fortunately just in time for the release of the TM Warthog, so I didn't bother looking at conducting repairs. (In my case it works most of the time, but sometimes glitches off.) pctoptech Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Thanks guys, I have checked the connector and solder joints, as well as the wires and other solder connections and didn't find any issues. Maybe I will replace the PS2 port on the joystick. Hadwell Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) yes i had that problem on my regular x52, i replaced the ps2 cable and it fixed the problem for me, but the ps2 port on my old computers motherboard got so worn out from constantly being plugged and unplugged that eventually nothing would stay in it anymore... just the weight of the wire is all it took to unplug it and I'm sure the contacts were pretty worn down too... reason being i used to format my hdd every 3 months or so, i use a usb keyboard, but the motherboard needed a ps2 keyboard before you install the usb drivers.... sorta similar to like disconecting the joystick from the throttle... except i probably disconnect my stick 2 times a day... i don't even use ps2 anymore...
