Schuro Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I guess if there's a real person acting as ATC or other players nearby, they'll probably be able to help with directions as well if they're not too busy. When you fly online with X-Plane or M$ FS on vatsim, you can ask the ATC for progressive taxi. So he/she will guide you to the active RW or parking position when you are really lost. I guess it's the same IRL. In DSC i help myself out with F10 to get an overview of where I am parked and where the RW is.
ENO Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 F10 is your answer- plain and simple. If a server you've stumbled into has f10 disabled you're likely among some folks that take it pretty seriously and proooooooobably needed a password to get there. External views are often disabled in a2a servers simply because the "closest aircraft view" is often perceived as a cheat. Seriously though dove... You'll learn more in one mp session than you will in 10 hours of solo time. Most important thing you'll learn is to relax! MP is loaded with good folks who love to spread their passion for this sim and are eager to open their arms to other enthusiasts. I urge everyone to respect the "culture" of a server... And make sure you let people know that you're new to mp... Kind of like sticking a student driver sticker on your car... If people are Dickie to you then- well... Move on to another. Good luck! OK ENO, you've convinced me. Next time I've got a few hours spare I'm going to get myself onto a server and look for some kind souls with the patience to mentor me :) Main rig: i5-4670k @4.4Ghz, Asus Z97-A, Scythe Kotetsu HSF, 32GB Kingston Savage 2400Mhz DDR3, 1070ti, Win 10 x64, Samsung Evo 256GB SSD (OS & Data), OCZ 480GB SSD (Games), WD 2TB and WD 3TB HDDs, 1920x1200 Dell U2412M, 1920x1080 Dell P2314T touchscreen
ENO Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Glad to hear it! TS3 is a big, BIG help so highly recommend. You get much more help getting involved when the folks in the server don't have to type out instructions. If you need some help setting that up speak up here. It's REALLY easy to install- configuring is a couple of simple steps... just need to have a mic. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. I don't know if any of the servers tend to use Aries Radio (I think that is meant to be a bit more stable, if not feature-rich, than TARS at the moment) but I can set that up quite easily if needed.
