dovla Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Not really a DCS question Currently I have 650 Ti OC gigabyte 1Gb card installed bought less than a year ago While card is good and performs well in most new games, there is a need to stronger one especially in DCS and Arma3. Question is, if I buy new card and put it x16 slot and this old 650ti oc I move to x4 slot (without connecting anything to it) do I get anything from it being in my system, will it help my primary card to render content or something. I do have second monitor which I could connect to that second card if it would make any sense performance wise. Any 150-200 $ gpu upgrade suggestion ? ( i have 8Gb ram and 4xPhenom @3.2ghz) tmx
Psyrixx Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Nope. You wouldn't get any benefit from it. SLI requires to identical model cards to be effective. Otherwise, the two cards will either simply not work or would work completely independent of each other and not net you any performance gains by having both in the system. AhSoul Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 You could run a Helios monitor or something from the 2nd card though I guess? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread
karambiatos Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 you could use one of the cards for dedicated physix so you could see a performance boost in games that use it, albeit a small one. A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things
