seikdel Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I just ran a test mission where I attack an SA-11 site (one command vehicle, 3 launchers, 1 search radar) in a Su-25T with full SEAD loadout (ARMs and ELINT) starting due south 60km at 7000m ASL (test conducted on the shore), 700kmh, full throttle. Three tests were run: Average skill on all SAMs, average skill on all SAMs with ECM pods activated at mission start, and excellent skill on all SAMs. In all 3 tests, the timeline is identical. 1:03 - Search radar active 1:06 - Fire on search radar from 58km, 7003m 1:19 - Kh-58 reacheds peak altitude at 8628m and begins diving towards the target (interestingly enough, although the rocket is still firing, the missile decelerates as soon as it starts descending. Increasing barometric pressure?) 1:48 - Launchers activate and turn towards target, which is now at 49km, 7004m, ~713kmh 1:54 - Hard lock by launcher(s?) 2:23 - Search radar destroyed (1:17 flight time by ARM) 3:36 - SAM launch, 28km, 7004m, 726kmh 3:39 - Second SAM launch Once the missiles were in the air, I played around with evading them. Nothing interesting there. Result: The odd thing is that the skill level changed nothing here. I did this because I wanted to see if the SR would turn off to spoof the missile, but no luck there. I still don't know why I've been getting exploding ARMs in multiplayer on the 51st. Perhaps something else is at work here. Thoughts?
Rongor Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I am testing different SAM stuff at the moment but it relates quite good. I experience that those SAM batteries love to launch a second missile. We all know the soviet doctrine of always attacking with two missiles. But this doesn't make any sense when you already pulled the first missile's trajectory into the ground by diving towards the ground to shake it off. They always launch the second one. Regardless their skill. Also their skill doesn't change any awareness-, radar startup or launch ranges.
ralfidude Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Don't bother with ECM. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
xxJohnxx Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 But this doesn't make any sense when you already pulled the first missile's trajectory into the ground by diving towards the ground to shake it off. And that's another problem. Even the SA-2 got an upgrade which prevents that from happenging. You won't dive any missile of any SAM into the ground anymore.
