Parkranger Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Been looking at getting a stick soon, the price difference is marginal here, I've read that the x52 Pro has a resistance to it the farther away from the center you put it. Is this an issue? I don't even know if the x52 has this or not so excuse my ignorance. Its still possible to pick up the x52 on the Mad Catz website, but id like to see what other people have to say about the Pro version first. Thanks!
karambiatos Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 the x52 has some centering issues, due to terrible drivers, it decenters sometimes on some of the axis, and its kind of jumpy, when moving slowly (not really noticeable when playing), though i dont know if the x52 pro has the same problems. if you can get the pro get the pro, thats what id recommend, but not form mad catz website its over priced there, buy it from a store or an online store A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things

Its still possible to pick up the x52 on the Mad Catz website, but id like to see what other people have to say about the Pro version first. Thanks! I have the x52pro, used for several years now, This model was updated over the x52 model by putting in a stiffer centre spring (2 of them instead of 1), and I have had next to no issues with it centering very accurately all the time, on the odd accation it did get out of calibration, a simple unplug and plug back in auto centered every thing again. It is true that it is quite stiff and sticky, especially the further out from the centre you go, but with a little lubrication on the slide plate and with constant use it soon frees up and feels much more normal though its full range of motion. Only issue I have with mine is that when you first go for a fly, it seems way to sensitive on x and y axis, so I have to move the joystick through a full range (circle) to sort of calibrate it properly before takeoff. Good joystick if you get it relatively cheep, back when I bought mine it was expensive at $300+ AUS dollars. The are about $150-$200 now. Hope that helps you. Cheers, Ian. Parkranger Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) I'll keep an eye out if the Saitek goes on sale, heres another stick ive been looking at as a possibility http://www.amazon.com/ThrustMaster-2960706-T-16000M-Joystick-for/dp/B001EAWNKK/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1381014858&sr=1-2&keywords=Thrustmaster+T16000M You can pick this up now for 50% off, it was recommended to me in confidence by another poster. The only problem is it doesn't come with a throttle. For a heli sim I assume its necessary to have one for the collective control, but I have no idea if that's actually the case. From the reviews I've read it has top notch sensors but feels like cheap plastic (which I don't mind) I'd love to see what people on this forum have to say about it as its only come up once in my search :D Edited October 19, 2013 by Parkranger
Stephen Higginbotham Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I've got a Pro X52 It's very nice just be careful on the cable inserts there not forgiving if not connected right the ends will be damaged very easy
Erforce Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 i've got a Pro. it miss only force feedback, but it's perfect for planes and choppers. other than that, it's a true HOTAS. so many buttons, modes, combinations... Don't have recenter problem, i just had to buy another PS2 cable, from linky high quality seller. the fun thing, is i bought it on amazon a few year ago at 130$. now it's 200€, will never understand why, nor if it's more interesting than a X52 standard for it's price. Parkranger Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 I would buy one right now but I think Saitek may have discontinued the x52's or they possibly only release small amounts of them at a time where they just get bought up immediately. Been looking for a couple weeks to try and find one that isn't on backorder with no luck :/
