Dudester22 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Why is trackir so jumpy when you look down? I thought mine was faulty at first, so I ordered another one only to find out it does the same thing. How do you get it to stay still once you stop your head, just like it does in all the other directions? Edited November 13, 2013 by Dudester22
SyntaxError Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Are you having a problem with your headtracking view jumping and stuttering when pressing certain keys or certain combinations? My view goes crazy when I use the hat on my X52 throttle to slew around the TGP on the A-10. None of the keys are mapped to recenter view so I have no idea what's going on. Vedexent Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Have you checked it out in the camera display view? If you have the pro-clip, or the reflectors, set in a way that when you move your head all the way down, one of the points eclipses one of the others, then the TrackIR can wildly misread your head position. You need to view the camera view display, then move you head through the range of motion side to side and up and down, to make sure this doesn't happen. You may need to reposition the pro-clip or reflectors.

I think you might have that hat key linked to a view or something in your options for it to do that.
Hobo Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 What version TIR do you have? I have TIR 4 with the PRO clip and it gets jumpy at extremes. I've had mine since it first came out and had to lower the IR filter in the software. But beware of any sun reflections, or backlighting when messing with it. I know for me an upgrade is due.

I wouldn't bother upgrading if I was you. I ordered Trackir 5 and it did the exact same thing. I a have now ordered the Track clip pro, but I don't hold any hope since you have said that is what you have. Personalty, I am beginning to think Trackir is a load of crap. What's the point in it if it slowly moves up and down and cannot stay still everytime you look down? 1) There is no light and I even have shutters on my windows. 2) I have turned light filter down to 39 & also tried it high. 3) I have positioned the camera right in the middle so the 3 green dots are centred.
