  1. I'll start by saying we are definitely appreciative that we even have a dedicated server. The old method was a pain in the butt and resource intensive. Thank you for the time and effort that you've put into it. Taking away features because of walk on filesystem makes sense. Why not take advantage of Windows permissions? Give us the ability to give a RO account access to certain folders and call it good? Now we're jumping a little bit into hypothetical. A script living inside the defined locations still has the ability access everything that user has access to. Just because you can't see the D: drive through the web interface, doesn't mean it doesn't have access to it through Windows permissions. Hence security through obscurity. This can be seen with the serverSettings.lua. I defined the D: drive and can access the files. I just can't browse the files.
  2. Yup, I agree. Security through obscurity is not security in terms of a web app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for that information for the log. Didn't notice that change. On the second part, you are incorrect. You can run the missions from wherever still by editing the serverSettings.lua. The change is just forcing your hand to go to the saved games folder. Honestly, this is just a lazy way do file browsing because of complaints people may have. Have selections on the left side of the browser that act as a quick access to the saved games relative path rather than force, only option. ED, please put it back the way it was. I do not want to run the missions folder on the server C drive.
  4. I looked over the last few pages, but not seeing anyone else with the problem. New bug: I cannot go to different drive's via the built in file browser anymore. We have our install on the D: drive of our server as well as the missions folder. When I go to try to browse back to the D: drive, I am forced only to the saved games folders - which is located on the C: drive. We only noticed the change with the most recent beta update. The current work around is editing the serverSettings.lua file.
  5. I don't think you understood my post. I understand 8088 or whatever other designated port I so choose needs to be opened up to the web for the ED site. I was asking for information so I could restrict it to ED site IP range so I don't have to worry about some script kiddy messing with my dedicated server. :)
  6. I've looked through the thread and can't find an answer thus far. Does anyone know the IP range to the DCS centralized servers? I would like to allow the remote management feature of our server with minimal security risk. I personally don't feel 100% comfortable with 8088, secondary, to the n-th range of ports being opened to the entire world.
  7. I currently have the Saitek combat pro pedals and enjoy them. One thing I would suggest if you don't like nodding or adding wood, would be to take the toe plates and put them on the back. I don't know if they come with screws from the factory, but simple 1 inch wood screws (home depot or lowes in the US) work perfect for keeping the plates attached to the rudders. This would be similar to the wood blocks seen in the previous pictures. If you don't secure the plates to the pedals, the plates will pop off during a flight and drive you nuts. If you can fork the money, go with the crosswinds. Saitek combat pros would be second choice and the CH pro pedals as a nice set of budget pedals. There are others comparable to the crosswinds, but I would say do a lot of research before setting your heart on anything other.
  8. It seems pretty serious to me. The question does make sense as timezone was not mentioned on release date. Will it be an incremental release per timezone? Will it be a release when Thursday reaches the right of the international date line (Alaska, etc)? Or what general timezone will it be released?
  9. So he's been given the warning.. what's the path? It's simple as that rather than arguing and belittling people. Side note: I am happy where it's at, but I do notice a lot of this back and forth for simple stuff on the forums. If he wants to try it and find out the hard way, let him find it out.
  10. I'd prefer the AH-1Z vs the W, but W if need be.
  11. My preference in order JHMCS AIM-9X NVG CFT Before I see someone say NVGs aren't used on the F-15C, go read AFI11-2F-15v3 para 3.21
  12. What is it with people saying JHMCS is not on the F15C. It is. Do your research before saying wrong aircraft. That's a wiki linked article, but before you start biting my head off about it, just watch this video Immediately before clicking the button to play the video, you will see that the pilot is wearing a JHMCS equipped helmet. Also at about 55 seconds and throughout you can see that there is another view of a helmet equipped with it. And last but not least, Boeing talks about it being equipped on their trainers http://www.boeing.com/boeing/defense-space/support/training/commercial/jhmcs.page Sooooo, +1 to JHMCS for the F-15C.
  13. It would be hard to have a layout for all planes saying the only auto config for the warthog is just the A10C. Everything else you would need to setup on your own.
  14. From what I've seen on the forums thus far, motorcycle steering dampers have been the most popular option. Here's this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123727&highlight=Damper And this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=118651&highlight=Damper&page=3 Same thread as the last one, but with pictures: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2033066&postcount=116
