VMFA-Blaze Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Dont be pedantic chennuts, you should know Marines (maybe) arn't renowned for spelling. And anyway why do you say "hungry", are you getting doughts mixed up with doughnuts? Dought is phonetically closer to doubt than doughnut. In Falcon - all cockpits are just "skins" that mask over the F16 pit. So you can download a Tornado, F111 or F18 cockpit, you are still flying an F16, just the asthetics have changed. So the pits in Falcon aren't realistically functional with the exception of the F16.... As I posted earlier I think I'll wait for ED to produce a more accurate FM if possible ..... Thanks dynamocl ...... As far as chennuts's post, give me some slack, ...... Guest IguanaKing Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I'm not sure how most of us here could answer the original question since most of us have never actually flown either aircraft and can only guess about the FD. ;) Edit: Actually, I should just call it the flight model, since, as an avionics guy, FD means something completely different to me.

Each available aircraft in F4 has its own basic flight model, and most pits available for F4 require that you choose the aircraft the pit is made for as your player aircraft in order for that pit to show up. When you fly with the Vark pit, the Vark doesn't handle ANYTHING like the Viper, and the Bone SURE AS HELL doesn't handle like the Viper. On some of the incomplete pit packages, you may have a few internal views that show Viper parts, but the aircraft DO NOT handle the same as the Falcon 4 Viper.
chennuts Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Dont be pedantic chennuts... ...Dought is phonetically closer to doubt than doughnut.... A bit of the pot calling the kettle black? :D (In case there was a misunderstanding, my previous post in which I bolded the "dough" part of "dought" was, in fact, a joke.)
nscode Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 One off-topic remark: I read somewere its no longer designated F/A-18, buf F-18A Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Guest IguanaKing Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 You're probably thinking about the F-22. F/A-18As, if they are still in service in the US, are few and far between. ;)
phantom_fly85 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Hey Blaze, I hope this helps. It seems as though you want to fly a F/A 18 in a sim. I too wish this would come true due to the graphic enhancements shown from the LOMAC series. When Falcon SP4 was alive and well I loved to fly the Hornet with Aeyes pit. I used to beta test for the Falcon series and I know the Hornet's FM was as best as it could get for a F16 sim. The slow flight characteristic were great which gave my style an advantage when fighting against boom and zoomers. The current Falcon AF is only F-16 with no "fly any plane". I hated the Graphsim version of Iraqi Freedom for the Hornet. It was just bad, so don't waste your money on it. Janes is the best for Carrier OPs. FM is awesome. Real Hornet pilots have said that it is spot on. My only complaint is the cockpit. Textures, buttons, dials are just not like an Aeyes pit. If it were and the graphics were like LOMAC then Janes would be in my opinion the best flight sim ever.
Pilotasso Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 There are about 100 F-18A's in the US and all are based in canada. :) .

Man, truer words have never been spoken... I played the hell out of F/A-18, and just put it back on my comp. Its a bit hard adjusting to 1999 graphics, but it really is a great game. One day... one day someone has to make an updated Hornet sim with all the details of Jane's F/A-18.... or maybe its just wishful thinking.
Caretaker Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 No question, Jane's F/A-18 was one of the best sims ever. The only problem were the really steep system requirements, but otherwise it had pretty much everything a good combat sim needs. And in addition, it worked fine out of the box without requiring years of patching. Caretaker ED Beta Test Team
VMFA-Blaze Posted February 3, 2006 Author Posted February 3, 2006 I had it on my hd for a little while .... I acutally down loaded the demo from Game Spy years ago..... And then I started playing Flanker in preperation for the Lock on release.... Does anyone know if You can still get JF-18 ?????? ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
phantom_fly85 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Maybe Ebay or a Half Price book store or similar software reseller of used titles. I don't know if it's available as a jewel case only title? Worth a look at any retail store, but you probably won't find a boxed version anywhere. You could post on Frugals on the Janes F/A 18 forum and ask some of them about getting an extra copy.
MonnieRock Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I still fly Janes F/A-18. All this talk about flight models is not what kept me flying Janes F/A-18. The detailed avionics and weapons systems as well as the A/G radar kept me flying. What a great simulation. P.S. Thanks to Matt Wagner and the Baltimore team for so many years of happiness. nscode Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 ... about those Americans who think that Canada is the capital city of Nebraska... :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Guest IguanaKing Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Who thinks that? Have you guys been watching Jay Leno or something? :D Just kidding...there probably are people here who think that. I have met a few Canadians who didn't know what a Western Diamondback looks like...kind of important if you come to Colorado in summer and plan on spending any time outdoors. ;)
