Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm messing around trying to install some skins I've downloaded but I can't seem to grasp this at all and they don't show up in the mission editor so I'm definitely not doing this right.

So could I please request someone with a lot more brains than I've got!! please post a "How to install skins for dummies" post here? A step by step would be good.

Cheers guy's.....

DCS World\Bazar\Liveries

Then in the plane/heli it goes in.

example -

MI-8

the .zip will/should have a folder with the name of the livery [for this example liv.

unzip liv into DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\mi-8mt so there is a folder called liv

in liv there should a .lua file and dds files.

if there is no folder in the .zip file then you should unzip with the same name as the .zip file

There should be no other folders in the livery of the aircraft folder.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Hi Joey

Thanks for the reply............

So when you say no other folders in the livery of the aircraft folder do you mean the skin folder that's just been installed or the complete aircraft livery folder?

I'm trying to install your 43 Sqn skin. Here's what I did.

I unzipped the downloaded file into a separate folder on the desktop. I ended up with 3 files....11, 41 and 43 Sqn. I copied and pasted these into DCSWorld\Bazar\Liveries\A10C. Inside the A10C folder there were 36 other files, I assume default skins that came with the game. Most of the files only have a .LUA file in!? Your folder contains one .LUA file and several .DDS files, is this right?

Now if I start DCS and go to the mission planner should your skin appear in the skin list on the weapons load out?........cause it doesn't :helpsmilie:

I'm either missing something here or................

If you are sing 7zip [which you should cos it's awesome and free]

right click > 7-zip > Extract Files.. > then in the Extract to: box unzip it to the A10-C livery folder.

edit: make sure you are selecting UK as the country.....

ok.....dumb question number two......

How do you change the country (I think that's why I can't see it as it's defaulting to USA). In the mission planner it wont let me change it as that box seems to be locked. I'm trying to fly and existing mission/campaign with the new skin.

If you have Notepad ++ you can open the .LUA of the livery file and add USA.

{"UK", "USA"}

add that ^^ at the bottom

You can't edit missions to add another country................. easily.
