ENO Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 First of all- it barely takes a computer guy to set up a server... I should know- I'm a brain cell away from being a plant and I figured it out. The password isn't anything to set up. Go to set up a new server in MP... enter a password. Not meaning to sound snide- but it's literally that easy. The internet sharing thing- no big deal depending on your connection and another huge part of it is number of AI involved in your missions. My uploads speeds vary from 150kb per player (general) to 1.5 meg per second per player upload... in heavy AI involved missions. Turning the server renderer off as per the second link is a good idea... but you still need a graphics card of some description- can be integrated, no big deal... but you need one. If you have trouble with the set up let us know and we'll help you out. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
chardly38 Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 One of the reasons for the IT guy was to help me set up windows 7 remote access to my fathers computer. I cant get it to work. But I got logmein free to work. The other was to strip down Windows 7 so that it would run better and make sure there would be no problems connecting to the server. I looked at what you said in MP and your right it is easy to do. I going to try this weekend to see how it goes. ENO Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I used to use logmein but I found that team viewer was superior in just about every way. SOOOOOOOoo easy! Take a look at it... All you have to do is install TV to your dad's computer, then add the computer to your account... and done! There are a couple little tweaks but even out of the box it's amazing. Highly recommend. (and yes, this coming from someone who was originally a logmein fan who was unwilling to change because logmein was familiar. Once I made the move, there was no going back.) winchesterdelta1 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Yup Team viewer is the way. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
BitMaster Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) Hey all, just as reference, Teamviewer is only free for personal use. If you can't use it for this simple reason, there is a true alternative out there in different flavors, called VNC. There are many VNC variants, RealVNC, tightVNC and some others... tightVNC is free for everybody incl. commercial use and also offers encryption and file transfer, things other VNC variants usually don't have. VNC runs on all OS, Unix/Linux/BSD, Win,Mac etc.. It offers true remote access, capturing the actual console output instead of creating one, very helpful when rebooting and/or logon credentials are troublesome. If MS-RDP and Teamviewer can't provide the "grab" that you need, try VNC.
