Guest Markwilliam Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 When trying to taxi, I get rudder movement but no real wheel movement. When I push the stick forward, if the wheel turns at all it goes into a hard left and sticks there making it impossible to go anywhere but in a circle. I have tried just about everything to get this problem to go away. The only way I can take off is to just take off from my starting position. I cannot taxi at all like this. Any ideas? Thanks
G00dnight Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 leave the stick alone, wheelbrakes are your friend, get it moving and touch WB's for direction don't taxi too fast or you will tip her on her nose and she don't like it. Shahdoh Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 To lock the tail wheel to the rudder (for up to 6 degrees of travel in either direction) the procedure is to pull the stick full back. Full forward should release the lock and allow it to caster around 360 degrees. And yes, differential brakes help a bunch with ground control.
gavagai Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Yes, I would say forget taxiing if you don't have rudder pedals. Buy some. You are already a flight sim nut if you fly the DCS P-51.:pilotfly: P-51D | Fw 190D-9 | Bf 109K-4 | Spitfire Mk IX | P-47D | WW2 assets pack | F-86 | Mig-15 | Mig-21 | Mirage 2000C | A-10C II | F-5E | F-16 | F/A-18 | Ka-50 | Combined Arms | FC3 | Nevada | Normandy | Straight of Hormuz | Syria
