Neon67 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Hi all There is still something i dont do correctly with me ramp start I dont know exactly when öy HSI is properly setup to the geo magnetic field there is a knob you roll left or right until the icone O move itself to the + So should i setup it to see only the + , or the O+ ? Also , how about the other Power setiing, the knob where AB, AC , Ess, Non Ess Bus etc stands? we actually never use it ?
monkie Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I haven't flown the Huey in a couple of weeks but I do remember having to set the HSI to the mag compass. Not sure if there is a way to slave it to other systems or if it just acts like an independent gyro which needs resetting to the Mag compass from time to time. fjacobsen Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 yeah but how do you do it accuratly ? Set it according to the magnetic compass :) There is really no othern way in real life apart from setting it when heading straight down the runway using the known runway heading value. monkie Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 yes even in the real world aircraft gyro instruments can be off quite a bit and need to be reset now and again. We are spoiled with our glass cockpits and heads up displays, the Huey was designed in a time of old school pilots. Sager Laptop, i7-6700k 4.00GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 980M, 1920x1080, TIR 5, Windows 10
KaspeR32 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 It seems setting the HSI to the magnetic compass always puts the + and O right in the middle. Is that correct? Can I set the HSI according to that instead of the magnetic compass? Or is it just a double check type thing?
