Hello All;

I'm new to DCS world and am attempting to figure out what modules/aircraft to purchase. Please note, I currently own Locks On Platinum which includes Flaming cliffs 2. I have also purchased and installed Black Shark 2 and the P51.

I'm considering the purchase of Flaming Cliffs 3, but am somewhat confused about what it will actually offer within DCS World:

  • According to the E-Shop Flaming cliffs offers the following aircraft - F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25T, and Su-25. Does this mean all of these aircraft are flyable in DCS World?
  • Does FC 3 offer any other environments to fly in DCS World?
  • I read somewhere that the aircraft being developed recently that are also in FC 3, are free to Flaming cliffs 3 owners. Is this true? If not, is it worth purchasing the Su-25 and A10-A along with Flaming cliffs 3?

Although these items are on sale, I have a limited amount to spend, and would like to get as much bang for my buck as I can.

Finally are there any good servers/squadrons that are newbie friendly. This looks like an awful big simulator and would be nice to get to know some friendly faces.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

1- Yes, all aircrafts FC3 are flyable into DCS: W

3- all updates over aircrafts of FC-3 are free.... check other news:

You can buy A-10A and Su-25A if not buy FC-3, but that has the same plane of FC-3 level.

Flaming Cliffs 3 requires an install of LOMAC, which you have. It will not run off of a Steam install.

It includes the A-10A, Su-25, F-15C, Su-27, MIG-29A/S/G and Su-33. It is a module in DCS World (free, includes Su-25T).

The A-10A, Su-25, F-15C and Su-27 have or are being updated with an AFM, 3D model, and new 6 DOF cockpit. These will be sold separately as well for those that do not want the LOMAC prerequisite. The Su-25T will also get a new cockpit, and the Su-33 will get a new external model.

We do not know if the Su-33 will get a new AFM or cockpit; likewise for the MIG-29. Because they may not be updated, Flaming Cliffs 3 might be the only way to obtain these aircraft.

Price wise FC3 is cheaper as the Su-25/A-10A are each $15 separately. I imagine the F-15C and Su-27 will be that price to, which is $60 total. $50 gets you the same content, plus the MIG-29 and Su-33.

Get Flaming Cliffs 3 unless running DCS World via Steam is of importance to you.

What I hope would happen in the future:

- ED gives the MIG-29A/G/S and Su-33 the same improvements, and puts them on sale as stand alone modules.

- Gives FC3 users the updated MIG-29/Su-33.

- ED stops selling FC3, gives all FC3 users individual CD keys for all DCS Flaming Cliff aircraft.

No one would need a LOMAC install, and FC3 users can download DCS World off of Steam servers, saving ED bandwidth. :)

Flogger;

Thanks kindly for the answer. I have switched from my Steam account to a direct install because I read that there are some issues with steam and some addons, so I'm covered there.

You covered the economics side of it well and it would appear that FC 3 is the way for me to go.

Thanks kindly for your reply.

Hello everybody

I would like to buy the FC3 too but I'm still a bit confused about how it works. Why I cannot buy it without buying the Lock on? I would not have any problem if the Lock on would be also available in the shop, but it's not.

How does the add-on check for the game? Do I have to enter the Serial key from Lock on during installation of FC3 or does the fact that I have the game installed count as enough?

I do know one retail seller where the Lock on still is, but isn't there any easier way how to get the game digitally?

Thank you.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

It is that way because of contractual obligations.

The installer will check if Lock On is actually installed, so you have to install it.

Thank you!

I thought that the Amazon link in previous posts is for standard DVD package... I will check this out.

Just for reference, the standalone FC aircraft don't require Lock On installation. I have LO, FC2, and FC3, but I might just buy the F-15 and Su-27 (and MiG-29 and Su-33 if they get AFM) just in case something happens to my Lock On disc and/or computer. This is probably the more expensive way of doing this though. The two currently available FC level craft cost over half the price of FC3.
