Is this maneuver possible in game? I'd try it myself, but I have trouble just getting off the runway without exploding.

Anyway, with the high degree of accuracy with which the plane has been modeled, has anyone tried pulling this off in game?

The maneuver he performs is a 'Snap Roll' which is possible in DCS.

Watch this aerobatic tutorial I've made:

He's holding it longer so he enters a spin which he then recovers immediately from. In the video this is mentioned and shown at the beginning of the spin section.

Here is another snap roll tutorial for Rise of Flight which shows the effect in a dogfight:

If you read the P-51 manual (any version including historical) you will note it strongly cautions against doing snap rolls in this airplane.

Exceptional engineering...and a large hammer to make it fit!

The manuever he performed is quite possible, but--as usual--Dogfights's animation of it is altogether unlike what it actually looked like. History Channel never paid any attention to the physics when they animated the series.

+1

Especially when you have remaining fuel in the fuselage tank.
