ENO Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) :helpsmilie: I've been through the forums looking for a way to export an MFCD to a separate monitor. And no- not a separate monitor in my cockpit... there's plenty around about that. Someone else's monitor somewhere else. Perhaps an image on their ipad or android... or any other place a person might think to export their own MFCD. Like if they're in a CA slot and that space isn't being used by their own MFCD? The idea is to emulate the Rover system used by JTAC which allows them to view the TGP image of upwards of 40 different types of aircraft. Broadcast your MFCD TGP image to a JTAC who has the right setup to receive it. Each A-10 would need to be on a separate channel... again not sure but once I figure out a proper platform I can look at options. I've posted about this elsewhere but I just don't seem to get any traction with it. I'm not really looking for someone to do research for me, nor do the work for me as much as try and put the necessary pieces together. I wish listed it and explain a few more details about the objective here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=118888 There are plenty of guides that teach people how to take their MFCD image and project it elsewhere. I just want the elsewhere to be on a different computer. Piece of cake... :megalol: We know how to steer the MFCD internally... I guess what I'm more curious about is how do you "steer" it to someone else? I'm assuming I won't be able to do it within the DCS files... but maybe something else exists? I am reading lots about the location of the data, and how to move it around different monitor setups... but is there any practical or easy way to transmit that small square through to someone else? Even a separate program or ap that could do it? I'm going to keep looking and I'm not afraid to do research- but I'm hoping someone already knows such a program. Thanks. Edited January 18, 2014 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
ENO Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Maybe something like this: http://wiki.hoggit.us/view/Exporting_MFCD_to_a_Nexus/iPad And then having an app that screenshares over wifi to another person with that ap... hmmmmm "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. SkateZilla Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 if they all run the ImageServer program from the Ipad/Android APP, All anyone has to do is enter that persons IP into config screen to connect to their server and get the Image, but they'd also have the ability to control the displays. ENO Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Hmmm, not really- In theory, granted... only the TGP would be useful. But if at this early juncture you were able to see the whole MFCD and all its tabs... as the pilot cycled through it I think that would be a reasonable imperfection. If you think about it, the true value is when you're both looking at it at the same time anyway. I don't think Rover allows the JTAC to take control of the TGP... it's meant to allow the JTAC to give direction to the pilot so he can move the TGP around as required. They could also see the TAD on the other MFCD- which may allow to simulate this capability mentioned by A16... You don't have to have a laptop, the receiver can talk to a laptop over ethernet or it can send video directly to a monitor. A laptop is nice because you can use it alongside something like FalconView to see the aircraft's location as well as the viewed area on a map, which would be extremely valuable, although I don't know if that would be possible in-game at the moment. But just having a rover feed for a JTAC would be a big deal. I'm going to look into that and see if it's that easy... I kind of figured you'd have an answer for it... let's see! SkateZilla Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 would be a nice feature, remote linking a TGP. ENO Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I'm looking at the virtual server- I've had it on my ipad for quite a long time... but the free version. So I guess the idea is that the virtual server is configured to display the MFCDs, and then a person just needs to "enter" the server with the appropriate IP? But each person would need to have a server- and the JTAC would need to enter into their server to view the available windows. SkateZilla Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Maybe you should see if ED is willing to do networked TGPs for JTAC, Assuming this isnt on their Internal plans for the update to Combined Arms. I Wouldn't mind Combined Arms having control over drones and their TGP/Weapons. ENO Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I've floated the idea a couple different times but haven't had any bites on whether they have it in the future plans... I'm going to explore this virtual server and see if that opportunity exists. I can't right now- But if someone ELSE can log onto it and view (I'm doing some reading on it and I can't see if it's that easy). I've looked into screen sharing on the ipad but it doesn't appear to be that easy because of the sandbox nature of the apps "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret.
